Abstract:
This invention is directed to an image reading apparatus. In the apparatus, reading an original by irradiating it with light of three primary colors, respectively, and by receiving the reflected light is performed as follows. More specifically, an operation mode is designated, and conditions used to perform image reading are set in accordance with the designated mode. Under the set conditions, the image reading is performed according to a method of irradiating an original sequentially with beams of the three primary colors and reading the beams reflected by the original. Alternatively, under the set conditions, image reading is performed according to a method of irradiating an original simultaneously with beams of two primary colors in each of three different combinations of the three primary colors and reading the beams reflected by the original. Instead, image reading is executed twice according to these two methods.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus is provided with a scanner that reads a document and generates image data thereof, an information detecting portion that detects, from the image data generated by the scanner, attribute information about areas divided in accordance with a type of an image, a resolution converting portion that modifies the image data for each of the areas by performing a resolution converting process on the image in accordance with instructions that are provided by a user based on the attribute information detected by the information detecting portion, an image replacement processing portion, and a printer that prints an image based on the image data thus modified on a recording medium.
Abstract:
An optical reading device of a scanning apparatus includes two light sources and a movable lens. The first light source emits a first light when the optical reading device is operated in a flatbed scanning mode. The second light source emits a second light when the optical reading device is operated in a sheetfed scanning mode. The movable mirror is selected to allow for passing the first light without being obstructed by the movable mirror in the flatbed scanning mode or allow for reflecting the second light coming from the second mirror in the sheetfed scanning mode. Due to the special design, the overall volume of the scanning module is reduced.
Abstract:
An image printing/reading apparatus in which a reference white board for prescanning can be prevented from being soiled with ink, and the influence of stray light from a paper discharge port can be reduced. A commonality of a print sheet path for conveyance of print sheet and a document path for conveyance of document is at least partially realized as a common path. A reading unit 28 is provided with reference white board 25 for shading correction used upon execution of prescanning. Upon execution or document reading, the reading unit 28 and the reference white board 25 are moved to a document reading position. On the other hand, upon execution of prescanning, the reading unit 28 and the reference white boar 25 are moved to a retreat position where the influence of ambient light is reduced. Further, upon printing, the reading unit 28 and the reference white board 25 are also moved to the retreat position for preventing the reference white board 25 from being soiled with ink.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus for imaging an original document or photographic film includes an original placement bed on which to place the original, and a reading device to form an image of the original. A transparent original adapter, detachably connected to the image reading apparatus, includes a delivery device that moves the original along an original placement plane of the original placement bed. The transparent original adapter also includes a lighting device that illuminates the original as the reading device forms the image of the original. A film position adjustment device adjusts the original away from the original placement plane when the original is moved, and against the original when the image of the original is read by the reading device.
Abstract:
An image reader according to the present invention can change the wavelength of the light radiated from an illumination unit, by switching illumination lamps to radiate a light, so that the light has the wavelength suitable for a color image CCD sensor, when a reading object includes a color image. Therefore, a suitable image signal can be obtained irrespectively of the color of a reading object.
Abstract:
An image reading device comprises a photoelectric conversion unit converting image data, optically read from a document, into an analog signal. A reading optical unit irradiates light to the document and directs a reflected light from the document to the photoelectric conversion unit. An analog-signal processing unit samples the analog signal and performs gain adjustment of the sampled analog signal in response to a control signal. An analog-to-digital conversion unit converts the analog signal, outputted by the analog-signal processing unit, based on a reference voltage to output a digital signal of the read data at an output level. A correction unit optimizes the output level of the read data signal for each of a first reading mode and a second reading mode by changing either the control signal to the analog-signal processing unit or the reference voltage to the analog-to-digital conversion unit.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an image scanner comprising an automatic document feeder and a moveable light source. The image scanner uses a sensing device to detect the position of a lid, and uses a switch mechanism to control the power output of a motor. When the lid is at an “on” position, the power output of the motor will be transmitted to the automatic document feeder to scan opaque documents. When the lid is at an “off ” position, the power output of the motor will be transmitted to the light source to scan transparent documents. The transparent documents can be scanned without additional locating devices to locate transparent documents thus making the image scanner multi-functional and easy to use.
Abstract:
An original-reading device has a first mode of reading an original mounted on an original-mount while moving a scanning unit for scanning the original, and a second reading mode of reading an original being moved while stopping the scanning unit at a predetermined position. The size of the device can be reduced by making the position where the scanning unit stops in the second reading mode within the moving range of the scanning unit in the first reading mode.
