Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to channel access for multi-link devices (MLDs). A MLD may identify a first backoff count associated with a first enhanced distributed channel access function (EDCAF) for a first communication link used by the MLD; identify a second backoff count associated with a second EDCAF for a second communication link used by the MLD, the first backoff count less than the second backoff count; determine a time period after that the first backoff count reaches zero and during which to refrain from transmitting using the first communication link, the time period based on the second backoff count; determine that the first communication link transitioned from an idle state to a busy state during the time period; and generate a third backoff count associated with the first EDCAF based on the first communication link transitioning to the busy state during the time period.

Abstract: Multi-link device (MLD) devices and transitions are described. The MAC addresses of the AP MLD and non-AP MLD are used to generate keys for different fast transitions (FT) between a non-AP MLD and an AP MLD. In an FT initial mobility domain operation, the AP MLD MAC address is used as the R1KH-ID and the non-AP MLD MAC address is used as the S0KH-ID and S1KH-ID. The MAC addresses are exchanged in Authentication Request/Response or Association Request/Response messages and the GTK/IGTK/BIGTK are delivered in a single FT 4-way handshake. In a fast MLD transition to an AP MLD in the same ESS, the other AP MLD MAC address is used as the R1KH-ID and the non-AP MLD MAC address is used as the S1KH-ID. The MAC addresses are exchanged in Authentication Request/Response or Association Request/Response messages and the GTK/IGTK/BIGTK are delivered in an FTE.

The device may generate, using an 802.11 protocol stack, an 802.11 frame with a subnetwork access protocol (SNAP) field, the SNAP field including an organizationally unique identifier (OUI) and the sequence number, the OUI including an indication of an Ethertype protocol. The device may send the 802.11 frame using a wireless connection.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to low latency preemption. A device may divide a first PPDU into a plurality of segmented PPDUs. The device may insert a plurality of time gaps between the plurality of segmented PPDUs, wherein the plurality of time gaps enable preemptive opportunities by a low latency transmitter. The device may identify a preemption request from a low latency transmitter of the one or more station devices during a first time gap between a first segmented PPDU and a second segmented PPDU. The device may preempt the second segmented PPDU based on a preemption bit in order to allow the low latency transmitter to transmit its low latency data.
