A 6-Color Set of chromatic primary colors is disclosed containing a bordeaux and/or a yellow shade orange color but no magenta. A method of modifying the color gamut of a color application process is also presented.

A coating device is arranged to a strip-shaped base sheet with coating material by holding the coating material on the surface of a coating rod and bringing the base sheet into contact with the coating material held on the coating rod, while conveying the base sheet in the longitudinal direction. The coating rod has a water-repellent section, in which the entire circumferential surface of a part of the rod in the axial direction is coated with a water-repellent material that repels the coating material, and a non-water-repellent section that is not coated with the water-repellent material and arranged adjacent to the water-repellent section. Consequently, even if the base sheet is brought into contact with the coating rod, the base sheet can be adequately provided with an uncoated portion in a part in the width direction since the coating material is repelled in the water-repellent section.

The present invention provides a mold release film including a resin layer provided on one surface of a polyester film, wherein the resin layer includes 100 parts by mass of a polypropylene-based modified polyolefin resin with the proportion of a modifying component of 1 to 10% by mass and 1 to 50 parts by mass of a cross-linking agent; the peel strength between the resin layer and a pressure-sensitive adhesive measured by bonding a rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesive to the resin layer exceeds 3.0 N/cm; and the residual adhesion rate of a pressure-sensitive adhesive after bonding an acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive to the resin layer is 80% or more.

A system for use in producing a nanotube mesh structure is provided. The system includes a first nanotube collection apparatus including a first substrate configured to collect a plurality of nanotubes substantially aligned in a first orientation on an attachment surface thereof, and a second nanotube collection apparatus including a second substrate configured to collect a plurality of nanotubes substantially aligned in a second orientation on an attachment surface thereof. The first and second nanotube collection apparatuses are configured to combine the pluralities of nanotubes at an interface. The system also includes a first energy source configured to direct energy towards the interface between the pluralities of nanotubes, wherein the energy is configured to join the pluralities of nanotubes to form the nanotube mesh structure.

The method can include the steps of: providing a substrate; providing a fluid; providing a rotating roll comprising an exterior surface wherein the rotating roll rotates about the central longitudinal axis and an exterior surface defines an interior region; providing a vascular network to supply the fluid from the interior region to the exterior surface of the rotating roll in a predetermined path; transporting the fluid to the vascular network; controlling the flow of the fluid to move the fluid at a predetermined flow rate to at least one of the at least two fluid exits; and contacting the substrate with the fluid.

A filter material of a filter element configured for application in a smoking article may include a fibrous substrate material finished with a fiber finish composition. The fiber finish composition may be formulated to selectively interact with at least one target component of mainstream smoke drawn through the filter element during use of the smoking article to selectively filter the target component from the smoke. The filter element may include multiple filter segments. Each filter segment may include a filter material having a finish composition formulated to selectively interact with a different target component. The various filter segments may be combined and/or arranged to selectively filter the mainstream smoke to achieve desired characteristics. Each filter segment may be formed from the same fibrous substrate material.

With an electrolyte membrane travelling continuously at constant speed in a roll-to-roll process, a catalyst ink is intermittently applied to the front surface of the electrolyte membrane from a coating nozzle. A liquid pool of the catalyst ink is formed at the tip of the coating nozzle during an intermission of coating. At the start of coating, the coating nozzle moves such that the spacing between the coating nozzle tip and the electrolyte membrane front surface is equal to a contact gap different from a coating gap to bring the liquid pool into contact with a coating start end of a coating area, suitably coating the catalyst ink to the coating area. The contact gap becomes larger with a larger film thickness of a coating formed on the front surface of the electrolyte membrane, and is larger than the coating gap for the film thickness larger than a predetermined value.

Coating compositions with light absorbing chromophores and method of making the compositions are disclosed. The compositions include a photocatalytic pigment attached to at least one light absorber covalently or non-covalently. The light absorber provides protection to the coating polymer from UV-induced photocatalytic activity of the pigments.
