Abstract:
Systems and methods according to the present invention address these needs and others by providing a handheld device, e.g., a 3D pointing device, which uses hand tremor as an input. One or more sensors within the handheld device detect a user's hand tremor and identify the user based on the detected tremor.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the methods and apparatuses display a list representing a plurality of devices; view a status of each of the plurality of devices; select one of the plurality of devices and forming a selected device; and access the selected device based on an assigned right associated with the selected device.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a radio control device which is used for issuing commands in a wireless manner to a remote controlled apparatus and in which an allocation mode can be run before said radio control device is operated. The inventive radio control device comprises a transmitter/receiver unit, a control mechanism, and at least one antenna. Once the user has triggered the allocation mode, the radio range of the remote control device is lowered such that communication can be established only with an apparatus that is located in the immediate vicinity of the remote control device and returning to the standard range is possible only once the allocation process has been completed.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for controlling usage times for at least one device, including the steps of: (a) identifying a device to be controlled; (b) utilizing the device by a user; (c) tracking a device usage value for the device as the user utilizes the device; and (d) initiating an action sequence based upon the device usage value. Also disclosed is an apparatus for controlling usage times for at least one device.
Abstract:
A method of remote surveillance and assisted care using a mobile communication device can include determining a location of a user. The method can also include adjusting at least one camera according to the location, and capturing an image of an area around the location. Further, the method can include transmitting the image to a remote information processing system.
Abstract:
A biological information acquisition unit of a biological information processing apparatus acquires biological information. A cue data acquisition unit requests and acquires cue data from the personal authentication apparatus. A personal data generating unit converts the biological information into personal data, or image data. The personal data generating unit further encrypts the personal data based on the cue data. A personal data output unit displays this encrypted personal data on-screen.
Abstract:
The existing paging infrastructure is used to send commands to operate remotely-located electronic or mechanical devices. A paging message containing one or more pre-set commands, trigger signals, or command strings is received by a paging receiver into an optional signal buffer which provides the received message to a message compare function. The message compare matches each component of the message to a set of one or more allowed commands and sends at least one signal or command that causes the action specified by the received message contents to take place at the target device. The command may be a signal for triggering an electronic or mechanical action, or may be a command that causes an operation to be performed in a software-controlled component of the target device. An alternate embodiment allows responses generated by the system and/or the target device to be forwarded back to the initiator via a two-way paging transceiver. The target device either has the capability of generating one or more signals or other messages in response to the commands received, or the system has the capability of sensing the state of the target device after receipt of the commands. Responses generated by the target device may be sent to the optional signal buffer or directly to the paging transceiver, or may be received and modified by a response generation function that is part of the system. Responses may be relayed either at the completion of the execution of all the received commands or after the execution of any of the commands in a multi-command sequence, providing feedback to the initiator as the command sequence is processed. The initiator may also receive an indication of the success or failure of the entire sequence of operations, or may receive data or other information produced or collected by the target device.
Abstract:
A pedestrian navigation and spatial relation device including a position finder, a spatial relationship sensor, an input mechanism, and an output mechanism. The position finder can be configured to determine a geographic position of the device based upon received wireless signals. The spatial relationship sensor can provide data used to detect a position of at least one obstacle relative to the device. The input mechanism can specify a destination location. The output mechanism can present device output to a user. The device output can include sensory indicators for at least one of guiding a pedestrian to the destination location and warning a pedestrian about the detected obstacles.
Abstract:
A wireless control system for wireless control of a remote electronic system includes a wireless control system circuit coupled to a vehicle interior. The circuit includes a transmitter circuit configured to transmit a wireless control signal having control data which will control the remote electronic system, a timing circuit configured to transmit a timing signal, and a control circuit coupled to the transmitter circuit and the timing circuit. The control circuit is configured to receive the timing signal and to command the transmitter circuit to transmit the wireless control signal based on the timing signal.
Abstract:
Remote control apparatus, systems and methods based on a wireless message service. In an example embodiment, the system includes transmitting means for transmitting a wireless message and receiving means for receiving the wireless message. It has a control application server which has security checking means for ensuring safety of the system, command generator for generating a control command as a function of the received wireless message and communication means for transferring the control command to a device to be controlled. The control command is transferred to the device through a network.
