Abstract:
The present invention comprises an improved extruder die assembly and method for using same to improve the quality of dimensional design aspects of extruded, complexly shaped, direct expanded food products. The improved system includes an improved die assembly comprising a first die and a second die having at least one orifice. A majority of the total pressure drop occurs in the first die to pre-expand the dough prior to the dough entering the second die. The orifices in the first die can be individually configured to obtain differing dough flow speeds resulting in a desired flow pattern. A plurality of extruded dough ropes formed at each orifice exit of the first die can meld together in the bore and exit the second die. Color or flavor can be added at the first die to enhance the food product.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and apparatus for flooding link state packets or packet data units (LSP's) from a first node to one other LSP receiving node, where the LSP's are flooded in an order that is related to relative costs of various paths emanating from the first node. That is, the first node sends its own LSP first since the first node has no cost relative to itself. The first node then sends other LSP's that are associated with a plurality of other LSP sending nodes that have previously flooded their LSP's to the first node, and these other LSP's are sent by the first node to the other LSP receiving node in an order related to the relative costs associated with the paths from the first node to each of the other LSP sending nodes which had previously sent the other LSP's to the first node.
Abstract:
A goggle based light-weight VOG system includes at least one digital camera connected to and powered by a laptop computer through a firewire connection and allows for region of interest image processing. An EOG system may be incorporated directly into a goggle base. The digital camera may digitally center the pupil in both the X and Y directions. A calibration mechanism may be incorporated onto the goggle base. The VOG system may track and record head position and goggle slippage. An animated eye display may provide data in a more meaningful fashion. The VOG system may be a modular design whereby the same goggle frame or base is used to build a variety of digital camera VOG systems.
Abstract:
A goggle based light-weight VOG system includes at least one digital camera connected to and powered by a laptop computer through a firewire connection together with an integral visual light stimulus source. The digital camera may digitally center the pupil in both the X and Y directions. A calibration mechanism may be incorporated onto the goggle base. An EOG system may also be incorporated directly into the goggle. The VOG system may track and record 3-D movement of the eye, track pupil dilation, head position and goggle slippage. An animated eye display provides data in a more meaningful fashion. The VOG system is a modular design whereby the same goggle frame or base is used to build a variety of digital camera VOG systems.
Abstract:
A method for detecting a target biomolecule directly in a polyacrylamide gel in which it has been separated from other substances. Prior to binding the target to a probe and while the target biomolecule remains in the gel, the gel is immersed in a water miscible aqueous extracting medium containing a base to shrink the gel by at least about ten percent, and then the gel is washed with water to restore the gel to substantially its original size.
Abstract:
The present invention provides systems and methods for ultra-wideband communication devices to maintain synchronization. One embodiment of the present invention provides a method by which ultra-wideband communication devices may update their timing references by the use of a statistics register. In another embodiment, a network of ultra-wideband communication devices uses the statistics registers of a plurality of ultra-wideband devices to update their timing references based on calculating a function. Abstract:
Hot water pipes, in areas with hard water, tend to fill with scale until they no longer pass enough water. De-scaling water pipes with acid is dangerous, expensive and damages the pipes. Ion exchange and reverse osmosis water softeners eliminate scale buildup in pipes, but are expensive. This invention is a means of keeping the scale precipitate, created when water is heated, inside the water heater by passing the hot water through a removal medium where the scale sticks to the surface. The removal medium can be placed inside the water heater or in a separate tank connected to the water heater; both configurations remove the precipitate from hot water; both save hot water pipes from scale accumulation.
Abstract:
A system, method and apparatus for an electromagnetic waveform generator is provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, a computer software interface provides control signals to an array of electromagnetic pulse generation gates. Electromagnetic pulses generated by the array of electromagnetic pulse generation gates may be aggregated to form a desired waveform. One feature of the invention is that the electromagnetic waveforms generated are compatible with a number of different communications methods and technologies. This Abstract is provided for the sole purpose of complying with the Abstract requirement rules that allow a reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the disclosure contained herein. This Abstract is submitted with the explicit understanding that it will not be used to interpret or to limit the scope or the meaning of the claims.
Abstract:
A pedestrian navigation and spatial relation device including a position finder, a spatial relationship sensor, an input mechanism, and an output mechanism. The position finder can be configured to determine a geographic position of the device based upon received wireless signals. The spatial relationship sensor can provide data used to detect a position of at least one obstacle relative to the device. The input mechanism can specify a destination location. The output mechanism can present device output to a user. The device output can include sensory indicators for at least one of guiding a pedestrian to the destination location and warning a pedestrian about the detected obstacles.
Abstract:
A system, method and apparatus for sampling an electromagnetic signal is provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, data is obtained from an electromagnetic signal by sampling the received signal and demodulating the signal without mixing the signal with a second electromagnetic signal. One feature of the present invention is that the signal may be sampled at a rate ranging between about 10 pico-seconds to about 500 pico-seconds.
