Abstract: The present invention relates to novel PMMA foams and the production thereof. Here, polymers which have been obtained by copolymerization of methacrylamides such as N-isopropylmethacrylamide and without styrene are foamed. It has surprisingly been possible to establish that a stable, simple-to-produce PMMA foam which has very good properties, e.g. a very high compressive strength, and can be joined more simply to covering layers, especially in comparison with known PMMA foams, can be obtained according to the invention.

Abstract: A method of molding a sole (6) in vulcanized foam rubber for footwear, includes preparing a rubber in the form of a strip, preformed and/or granules, mixing the rubber inside a loading and mixing chamber (10), and preparing a mold (4) for the molding of a footwear sole (6). The mold (4) defines a molding chamber (8) counter-shaped with respect to a footwear sole (6). The mixed material is conveyed inside the molding chamber (8) and molding the footwear sole (6) inside the molding chamber (8) and the footwear sole (6) is removed from the mold (4). The rubber includes a foaming agent able to generate an expansion of the material inside the molding chamber (8) during molding, so as to uniformly fill the molding chamber (8) with the foam rubber. The foam material is vulcanized inside the molding chamber (8).

Abstract: A method for making a low density foamed article includes placing a desired amount of thermoplastic polyurethane foam beads in a cavity of an injection mold and closing the mold; combining in an extruder connected to the mold a molten polymer selected from the group consisting of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers and thermoplastic ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers with both a physical or chemical blowing agent other than a supercritical fluid present in an amount up to about 15 wt % based on molten polymer weight and a supercritical fluid that is at least one of about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent of supercritical CO2 based on molten polymer weight or about 0.1 to about 4 weight percent of supercritical N2 based on molten polymer weight, to form a mixture and injecting the mixture into the mold and foaming the mixture to form the low density foamed article.

Abstract: An electrically conductive rubber composition is provided, which is usable for production of a transfer roller of a highly flexible foam satisfying requirements for cost reduction and weight reduction and having smaller foam cell diameters and, hence, ensuring higher-quality image formation with smaller environment-dependent variations in roller resistance. A transfer roller produced from the electrically conductive rubber composition, a production method for the transfer roller, and an image forming apparatus including the transfer roller are also provided. The electrically conductive rubber composition contains a rubber component including SBR and/or BR, EPDM and epichlorohydrin rubber, a crosslinking component, and 4 to 6 parts by mass of a foaming agent and 1.5 to 2.7 parts by mass of a foaming assisting agent based on 100 parts by mass of the rubber component. The transfer roller (1) is produced by extruding the electrically conductive rubber composition into a tubular body and performing an in-can vulcanization process on the tubular body. The image forming apparatus incorporates the transfer roller.
