Abstract: Apparatus for gasifying a solid fuel that supplies a solid fuel such as coal by dry condition to a gasification furnace of an entrained-bed type is constructed so as to be able to collect the char discharged from the gasification furnace and re-supply the char to the furnace without using a lock hopper and without changing the char into slurry form. The char discharged from the gasification furnace along with produced gases 53 produced in the gasification furnace is brought into contact with water by a gas cooler 9 and collected. After being dehydrated by a dehydrator 10, the collected char is loaded into a mill 2 or a raw-coal bunker 1. For loading into the raw-coal bunker 1, the char is dried by a drying machine 14, preferably, after the dehydration.According to the present invention, a mixture of the collected char and water can be re-supplied to the gasification furnace without using a lock hopper or a dry feeder. After being dehydrated, the char preferably is further dried and then supplied to the gasification furnace. Since a great deal of moisture is not supplied to the inside of the gasification furnace, it is possible to prevent a temperature of the gasification furnace from decreasing, and thus improve gas conversion efficiency.

Abstract: A system and method of recycling non-hazardous waste materials is provided, wherein the method first comprises reducing the size of said non-hazardous waste materials. The method further includes incinerating the non-hazardous waste material within an incineration unit having at least one hearth and a flue gas stack, and transferring the non-hazardous waste liquids and the water to a storage tank. The method further comprises providing a clean water source to a steam generation unit, wherein the steam generation unit receives heated flue gas from the incineration unit, and operating the steam generation unit to produce steam. The steam is directed through one or more heating coils within the storage tank and transfers heat from the steam to the storage tank. Additionally, the non-hazardous waste liquids and water can be recirculated through an evaporator to progressively remove undesired substances from the non-hazardous waste liquid and water, and a first portion of the non-hazardous waste liquid and water can be redirected to the incineration unit to control temperature within the incineration unit. Finally, steam and undesired substances from the evaporator can be redirected to the flue gas stack to flash off undesired substances.

Abstract: The method aims at obtaining from waste and more particularly from municipal solid waste (MSW) the energy contained therein at the highest level for industrial use by means of natural technologies and with low environmental impact. The method, denoted by the acronym NEW (Natural Energy from Waste) operates through the following process phases: a) aerobic digestion of the putrescible biological part to produce stabilised waste which is easy to handle, b) separation of a fraction rich in materials with a high heat value, c) storage of the residue, rich in biodegradable and inert substances, compacted into appropriate geometrical shapes in bioreactors which can be activated and sealed, d) activation of the bioreactors with water and their service in time during anaerobic digestion to supply biogas to be used for the production of energy, e) bio-stabilisation and dehydration of the residual material of the anaerobic treatment with air, f) possible recovery of the materials produced in this way. In this way the energy contained in the waste, is extracted at the most refined level in the form of plastic, plastic/paper and methane for energy uses with maximum yield and reduced production of ash, and the end material leaving the bioreactors is fully exhausted of its energy content and inertised.

Abstract: A soil decontamination apparatus includes a pug mill with twin, side-by-side augers or shafts with paddles moving the soil along a treatment path. A roof over the pug mill includes burners directing flames toward the soil as it is moved through the device. The burners are preferably staggered from one side of the roof to the other and are directed at an angle into the mixing chamber. Conveyors carry the soil into the decontamination apparatus and away from it, and a screening device separates rocks and the like from the soil prior to treatment.
