Abstract: Processes, systems, and methods for producing combustible gas from wet biomass are provided. In one aspect, for example, a process for generating a combustible gas from a wet biomass in a closed system is provided. Such a process may include growing a wet biomass in a growth chamber, moving at least a portion of the wet biomass to a reactor, heating the portion of the wet biomass under high pressure in the reactor to gasify the wet biomass into a total gas component, separating the gasified component into a liquid component, a non-combustible gas component, and a combustible gas component, and introducing the liquid component and non-combustible gas component containing carbon dioxide into the growth chamber to stimulate new wet biomass growth.

Abstract: According to the present invention, organic material is converted to biogas through anaerobic digestion and the biogas is purified to yield a combustible fluid feedstock comprising methane. A fuel production facility utilizes or arranges to utilize combustible fluid feedstock to generate renewable hydrogen that is used to hydrogenate crude oil derived hydrocarbons in a process to make transportation or heating fuel. The renewable hydrogen is combined with crude oil derived hydrocarbons that have been desulfurized under conditions to hydrogenate the liquid hydrocarbon with the renewable hydrogen or alternatively, the renewable hydrogen can be added to a reactor operated so as to simultaneously desulfurize and hydrogenate the hydrocarbons. The present invention enables a party to receive a renewable fuel credit for the transportation or heating fuel.

The method comprises producing, in a gasification unit, synthesis gas from a carbonaceous feedstock, optionally cooling the synthesis gas discharged from the gasification unit, channeling the synthesis gas towards a hydrothermal processing unit, wherein the hydrothermal processing unit is configured to process a biomass feedstock contained in a pressurized water stream, transferring, in the hydrothermal processing unit, heat from the synthesis gas to the biomass feedstock, and producing a hydrothermal product from the biomass feedstock in the pressurized water stream.

Abstract: Syngas and liquid hydrocarbons are produced from synthesis gas. The synthesis gas is produced from a feed mixture of hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The feed mixture is heated to the reverse water gas shift (RWGS) reactor inlet temperature of 1400 to 1800° F. or even more preferred to a RWGS reactor inlet temperature of 1550 to 1650° F. Some of the heat required to heat the feed mixture to the RWGS inlet temperature is supplied by the oxyfuel combustion of hydrogen or fuel with oxygen and minimizes the load onto electrical heaters or need for gas fired geaters. The high inlet temperature allows a high conversion of carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide. Various fuels can be used including hydrogen, hydrocarbons, oxygenates, or carbon monoxide can be used as combustion fuel. The carbon monoxide produced can further be reacted with hydrogen to produce hydrocarbon fuels and chemicals. The hydrocarbon fuels produced include sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) that meets ASTM D7566 specification and diesel fuel that meets ASTM D975 specification. The hydrogen and oxygen are produced from the electrolysis of water. The carbon dioxide can be captured from industrial point sources such as power plants, ethanol plants, steel mills, or other producers of carbon dioxide. Alternatively, the carbon dioxide can be captured from the atmosphere.

Abstract: The description describes the integration of a gas fermentation process with a gasification process whereby effluent from the gas fermentation process is recycled to the gasification process. The one or more effluents which can be recycled include a stream comprising microbial biomass, a product stream comprising at least a portion of the at least one fermentation product, a by-product stream comprising fusel oil, and a waste water stream comprising microbial biomass. The stream comprising biomass can be dried before it is passed to the gasification zone. At least a portion of the waste water stream can be passed to the gasification process where one use is to replace at least a portion of the process water. The waste water stream can be further processed to produce a clarified water stream and a biogas stream comprising methane either or both of which can be passed to the gasification process.
