Abstract:
In at least one embodiment, a method of metering lifespan consumption of data storage devices in a multiple-data-storage-devices enclosure is disclosed. The method includes: receiving a storage access request; identifying a first data storage device within the enclosure as being targeted by the storage access request, wherein the enclosure includes two or more data storage devices; accessing the first data storage device in response to the storage access request; and in response to the identifying or the accessing, updating a record of a lifespan consumption meter assigned to the first data storage device.
Abstract:
The invention provides, in some aspects, systems for proactive management of development and performance of a software application based on monitoring it (and/or one or more of its components) during the course of development or execution. Those systems signal alerts upon determining that actual or expected usage of the application (or its components) by users of like classes (or roles) is anticipated to, or does, exceed quotas, when the application is placed in production mode.
Abstract:
A method, system, and computer program product for displaying components assigned to events produced by resources, includes: registering a new resource by generating a label to which is associated a system specific device identifier used by the new resource within a computing environment; storing in a mapping table the generated label identifying the registered new resource together with an associated system specific device identifier; and updating the mapping table by associating to the label any other system specific device identifier used by the new resource within the computing environment; receiving events produced by resources when being executed within the computing environment, each event being associated with a list of labels for the resources relevant for the generation of the event; and maintaining a tag cloud including different tags, the different tags including labels for the resources associated with the received events to be displayed as components.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for monitoring the performance associated with fulfilling resource requests and determining optimizations for improving such performance are provided. A processing device obtains and processes performance metric information associated with processing a request corresponding to two or more embedded resources. The processing device uses the processed performance metric information to determine an allocation of one or more domains to be associated with the two or more embedded resources. In some embodiments, in making such a determination, the processing device assesses performance metric information collected and associated with subsequent requests for the two or more embedded resources using each of a variety of alternative allocations of domains associated with the two or more embedded resources. The processing device may also consider a number of factors, including domain selection criteria obtained from an original content provider. Aspects of systems and methods for generating recommendations to use a particular allocation of domains to process a subsequent request corresponding to the two or more embedded resources are also provided.
Abstract:
Methods, devices and systems for monitoring behaviors of a mobile computing device include observing in a non-master processing core a portion of a mobile device behavior that is relevant to the non-master processing core, generating a behavior signature that describes the observed portion of the mobile device behavior, and sending the generated behavior signature to a master processing core. The master processing core combines two or more behavior signatures received from the non-master processing cores to generate a global behavior vector, which may be used by an analyzer module to determine whether a distributed software application is benign or not benign.
Abstract:
In the management of a processor, logical operation activity is monitored for increases from a low level to a high level during a sampling window across multiple cores sharing a common supply rail, with at least one decoupling capacitor along the common supply rail. Responsive to detecting the increase in logical operation activity from the low level to the high level during the sampling window, the processor limits the logical operations executed on the cores during a lower activity period to a level of logical operations set between the low level and a medium level, where the medium level is an amount between the low level and the high level. Responsive to the lower activity period ending, the processor gradually decreases the limit on the logical operations to resume normal operations.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, a tracking system is provided for providing credit to advertisers for application installs and in-application events. The tracking system may be configured to use user account information from a content provider system to determine whether a user of a newly installed application is a new user of the content provider system or an existing user of the content provider system, and to update tracking information accordingly. The tracking system may also use the user account information from the content provider system to link actions on multiple computing devices for the purposes of attributing a given application install to one or more advertising providers.
Abstract:
Embodiments provide methods for managing data generated by software transactions, such as event tracing software. In one embodiment, data generated by event tracing software is monitored. The throughput of the data generated may then be modulated based on various criteria, such as a target data rate. The throughput target may be specified on a per-system basis or individual basis. Based on the throughput, the level of detail recorded is modulated. Individual processes may determine a limit or quota depending on their contribution to the throughput. In one embodiment, the method calls for a trace are modified with different property specifications to meet a desired throughput of event tracing data.
Abstract:
Systems and techniques are described which improve performance, reliability, and predictability of networks. Geographically diverse network control nodes (NCNs) are provided in an adaptive private network (APN) to provide backup NCN operations in the event of a failure. A primary NCN node in a first geographic location is operated according to a primary state machine at an NCN active state. A client node is operated according to a client state machine. A secondary NCN node in a second geographic location that is geographically remote from the first geographic location is operated according to a secondary state machine at a standby state. The three state machines operating parallel and upon detecting a change in APN state information, the secondary state machine transitions from the standby state to a secondary active NCN state and the secondary NCN node provides APN timing calibration and control to the client node.
Abstract:
Described herein are systems and methods for use with a load balancer or traffic director, and administration thereof, wherein the traffic director is provided as a software-based load balancer that can be used to deliver a fast, reliable, scalable, and secure platform for load-balancing Internet and other traffic to back-end origin servers, such as web servers, application servers, or other resource servers. In accordance with an embodiment, the system comprises a high-speed network infrastructure which provides communication protocols or sockets for use by the origin servers in receiving requests; one or more protocol terminator/emulators for use with the communication protocols or sockets; and an inbound socket configuration and an outbound socket configuration which together indicate which terminator/emulator the traffic director should use in communicating requests to particular ones of the origin servers.
