Abstract: A method for managing data availability includes making a first determination by a first security module (FSM) that a first storage area network (SAN) infrastructure in a first data center has experienced a failure. The method also includes generating a secure string based on a first configuration parameter. Further, the method includes appending the secure string to a SAN failure notification to generate a secure string-appended request. In addition, the method includes sending the secure string-appended request to a second data center, wherein the second data center is selected based on a second configuration parameter. Moreover, the method includes making a second determination that the encrypted secure string-appended request is valid. Further, the method includes offloading processing of requests sent to the first data center using the second data center.

Abstract: Aspects of a data environment, such as the cloning, hibernation, and recovery of databases, are managed using a separate control environment. A monitoring component of the control environment can periodically communicate with the data environment to determine any necessary actions to be performed, such as to recover from faults or events for a data instance in the data environment. A workflow can be instantiated that includes tasks necessary to perform actions such as recovery, hibernation, resumption from hibernation, or backup or cloning. Tasks of the workflow can cause certain jobs to be performed by host managers in the data environment to affect calls made to the control environment.

Abstract: Methods, computing systems and computer program products implement embodiments of the present invention that include detecting a loss of communication with a given storage node among multiple storage nodes in a distributed computing system. Upon detecting the loss of communication, a log including updates to the data stored in the given storage node is recorded and, the recorded updates can be applied to the given storage node upon communication with the given storage node being reestablished. In some embodiments, the distributed storage system may be configured as a software defined storage system where the storage nodes can be implemented as either virtual machines or software containers. In additional embodiments, upon detecting the loss of communication, a redistribution of the mirrored data among remaining storage nodes is initiated upon detecting the loss of communication, and the redistribution is rolled back upon reestablishing the communication.

Abstract: A computer-implemented failure monitoring system and method are used with at least one server and with a plurality of resource servers. The system includes a computer storage device that stores one or more failure parameters indicative of one or more failure conditions. The system further includes one or more computer processors that include a monitoring component, an analysis component, and a throttling component. The monitoring component obtains information regarding service requests transmitted by the at least one server for which corresponding responses have not been timely received. The analysis component compares the information to the one or more failure parameters and determines whether at least one failure condition exists. The throttling component selectively inhibits transmission of service requests corresponding to the at least one failure condition while the at least one failure condition exists.

Abstract: Computerized techniques are described for detecting performance degradation during features ramp up. A first version of web content is sent to first client devices. The first version of the web content lacks a particular feature. First performance data that indicates performance of each first client device with respect to processing the web content is received. A second version of the web content is sent to second client devices. The second version of the web content has the particular feature. Second performance data that indicates performance of each second client device with respect to processing the web content is received. The first performance data is compared with the second performance data to determine a difference between a processing metric associated with the first version of the web content and a processing metric associated with the second version of the web content.
