Abstract: A lighting device obtains data related to objects and boundaries in an area in the vicinity of the lighting device, and a user wearable device provides a display (e.g. an augmented reality display based on the data related to the objects and the area boundaries) for a user/wearer. The lighting device includes a mapping sensor that collects data related to the objects and boundaries in the area. The user wearable device includes a camera or other optical sensor and wireless communication capability. The user wearable device is provided with mapping data that is presented on a display of the user wearable device. The communications and display capabilities allow the user wearable device to obtain room mapping information related to area in the vicinity of the lighting device in order to provide navigational assistance to a visually impaired person in the area.

Abstract: A stand-alone continuous cardiac Doppler pulse monitoring patch provides visual and auditory signals that a pulse is detected or not detected in a human subject. The invention is a small patch with a peel-away adhesive surface that is applied to the skin of the subject, preferably near a large artery. The adhesive surface of the patch includes a conductive medium to enhance transmission and reception of ultrasonic waves. The patch includes an integral power source, transmitters and receivers to send and detect reflected ultrasonic waves, a transducer to convert the reflected waves into an electrical signal, a processor to analyze the signal, a light to indicate the presence and strength of a pulse, and a speaker also to indicate the presence and strength of a pulse. The Doppler effect of waves reflecting from blood pumped from a heart is used to detect a pulse in the subject. The presence of a pulse is analyzed by the processor to determine the frequency and strength of blood flow. The processor causes the light to blink at a rate to indicate the frequency of rhythmic blood flow. In a further embodiment, the processor analyzes the strength of the blood flow and causes the light to increase or decrease in intensity to reflect the strength or weakness of the flow. The processor may also drive a speaker to emit sounds, such as beeps, that indicate the frequency and strength of blood flow. The absence of blood flow may be indicated by the absence of light or sound, or by separate light or auditory signals.

Abstract: In an example implementation, a system includes one or more memory devices configured to store computer readable instructions, and a treatment adjustment engine that includes one or more processing devices. The treatment adjustment engine is configured to obtain a first image of an eye of a subject, and a second image of the eye of the subject. The second image is captured in the presence of an electronic light source. The treatment adjustment engine is further configured to determine, based on the first and second images, one or more metrics representing shapes of the iris and pupil in the corresponding images, and determine, based on the one or more metrics, a pupillometry measure of the subject. The treatment adjustment engine is also configured to generate a signal for adjusting a cardiopulmonary therapy based on the determined pupillometry measure.

Abstract: A stimulation device is provided in accordance with one embodiment. The stimulation device includes a chamber which has a flexible wall portion. A drive unit of the stimulation device is in physical communication with the flexible wall portion so as to cause deflections of the flexible wall portion in opposing directions, thereby resulting in a changing volume of the chamber. The changing volume of the chamber results in modulated positive and negative pressures with respect to a reference pressure. An opening of the stimulation device is for applying the modulated positive and negative pressures to a body part. An appendage of the stimulation device may be used as a handle to allow a user to position the stimulation device over the body part. The stimulation device includes a control device for controlling the drive unit.

Abstract: A footbath has a base member defining a platform. A flexible continuous side wall extends from a proximal end region connected about a periphery of the base member to a distal end region. The side wall has a collapsed position and an extended position. The platform of the base member and the side wall cooperate to define a bath chamber for retaining water with the bath chamber sized to receive a body part. A retention member is supported by the base member to extend from the base member to the distal end region of the side wall to retain the side wall in the extended position.
