Abstract:
Described herein are systems and methods for collecting and surfacing metrics with respect to their classification; and the use of the metrics by a workload manager and other application monitoring tools to provide quality-of-service and workload management. Each request is classified, either by the application server or another process. A request classification identifier (RCID) is associated with each request, and thereafter flows with that request as it is being processed. The RCID value is used by data collectors at various points in the system to aggregate the metrics, and a workload manager collects the metrics. The collected metrics are then processed by a rules engine at the workload manager, which analyzes the metrics and generates adjustment recommendations to provide quality-of-service and workload management.
Abstract:
Unobserved user interface events may be detected based on upon previously recorded data streams of events. The prior data streams are obtained by recording events from users who have browsers that support both event capturing and bubbling. When users with browsers that support only event bubbling interact with the page, the data stream is augmented by inferring unobserved events based on similarity to other event stream records.
Abstract:
Systems, methods and computer program products for facilitating the collection of data within a computer network (especially an intranet) while complying with applicable privacy laws and regulations, as well as individual organizations' rules addressing intranet users' privacy are disclosed. Such systems, methods and computer program products allow for the collecting of activity information related to computer-based activities performed by users while logged into an organization's intranet. Such activity includes navigating to URLs, opening and editing documents, writing, opening and reading email and instant messages, and the like. The collecting, consolidating, storing and exposing of such activity information—while ensuring privacy requirements—serves as a basis for high-value services (e.g., augmenting documents with extra information, improving search results, automatic news feeds, social networking announcements, etc.) to be offered and provisioned to such users.
Abstract:
A system is disclosed for identifying one or more causes of a computer executing one or more processes running slowly, the system includes: apparatus for detecting states of one or more threads of the one or more processes; apparatus for identifying one or more of said one or more processes that have one or more threads with wait states that occur above a threshold to indicate which modules within a process or processes is causing said computer to run slowly. In one embodiment the system as the apparatus for detecting states periodically polls the one or more threads of the processes. The system can also include a data structure to store the states of each of said one or more threads each time said thread is polled. The system can be one in which one or more threads are UI threads.
Abstract:
A processor-implemented method includes providing an analytic dashboard with a graphical user interface (GUI) that outputs aggregated results streaming in real-time of a load test performed on a target website. The load test consists of a plurality of virtual users simulated by one or more load servers that execute a test composition on one or more webpages of the website. A waterfall chart is produced on the analytic dashboard that includes a plurality of timeline bars. Each of the timeline bars represents an aggregated result for a resource of the one or more webpages across all of the virtual users. The timeline bars change in real-time as the load test progresses.
Abstract:
Technologies are described herein for collecting client-side performance metrics and latencies. A web page received by a web browser application executing on a user computing device includes markup or scripting code that instructs the browser to collect performance measures during the rendering of the content of the web page. The performance measures may include operation timings that measure the time it takes for a particular operation to complete during the rendering of the content and/or event counters that count the number of times that a specific event occurs during the rendering of the content. The web browser application sends an event report containing the collected performance measures to a reporting module executing on a server computer. The reporting module receives the event report, validates the content of the event report, and adds the event report to a database or other data storage system.
Abstract:
A system and method for influencing behavior in a virtual environment. A virtual environment identifies a hotspot of activity that is, or may, cause lag in the virtual environment. An influencing event is determined and is presented into the virtual environment. The influencing event is configured to influence a control entity associated with a virtual object to avoid the hotspot.
Abstract:
Network performance is monitored using timing information retrieved from a client device, server in communication with the client, or both. Client side timing information is retrieved using performance monitoring code provided by the server. The code may be provided to the client as part of a content response. Once content in the provided content response is loaded, the code sends the timing information to the server. The server may then process the timing information to calculate response time and other time information metrics.
Abstract:
An approach is provided that transmits a load balance request from a first peer node to other peer nodes. Some of the peer nodes have assigned transaction tracking responsibilities. The transmitting is performed in response to identifying that the first peer node is performing at a non-optimal level. The first peer node receives responses from the other peer nodes. A determination is made as to whether to handover one or more of the first peer node's transaction tracking responsibilities. If a second peer node is identified to take some of the first peer node's responsibilities, then a handover message is sent from the first peer node to the second peer node that assigns at least one of the first peer node's assigned transaction responsibilities to the second peer node.
Abstract:
The state of an apparatus is reported to a remote computer using an embedded device in the apparatus. The embedded device detects the state, generates a message that reports the state using a self-describing computer language, and sends the message to the remote computer. The remote computer receives the message and extracts the state of the embedded device from the message.
