Abstract:
A system for providing remote monitoring of electricity consumption is provided. Briefly described, in one embodiment the system may comprise a plurality of electric meters, a plurality of communication devices having a unique address and defining a wireless communication network, and a site controller. Each of the plurality of electric meters may be configured to measure the electricity consumption of a load attached to the electric meter. Each of the plurality of communication devices may be associated with one of the plurality of electric meters and configured to receive data related to the electricity consumption of the electric meter data and generate a transmit message using a predefined communication protocol being implemented by the wireless communication network. The transmit message may comprise the unique identifier and the data related to the electricity consumption of the electric meter. The site controller may be configured for communication with the wireless communication network and configured to receive the transmit message from one of the plurality of communication devices, identify the electric meter associated with the transmit message, and provide information related to the transmit message to a wide area network for delivery to a host computer.
Abstract:
A far end remote control method and system by a short message and Bluetooth function operation are used to control output/input devices at a far end. The system mainly comprises a cellular phone, controlling device and controlled devices. Here, the method comprises the following steps: first, a cellular phone transmits a short message control command to a controlling device through a cellular phone network; the controlling device searches a controlled device appointed in the command; the controlling device builds a Bluetooth Serial Port Profile connection with the controlled device after the appointed controlled device is found; the controlling device transmits the short message control command to the controlled device through the connection; the controlled device controls an output or input device after receiving the command; the controlled device transmits an execution result back to the controlling device; the controlling device reports the execution result back to the cellular phone by a short message; the controlling device disconnects the connection with the controlled device and waits for a next control command after the report is completed. Thereby, the control range can be expanded to the all places in the world that the cellular phone is applicable. And, the controlled device can built a temporary network with the controlling device, the structure will not be changed even if the number of the controlled devices is increased or decreased.
Abstract:
An anti-interference relay device has a receiving module and a transmitting module. The receiving module modulates a received IR signal from a remote controller and an identification (ID) code of the receiving module to an RF signal and then broadcasts the RF signal. When the RF signal is demodulated by the transmitting module, the demodulated ID code is compared with a preset ID code. If the two ID codes are matched, the demodulated IR signal is allowed to output to control an appliance, otherwise the IR signal is ignored.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention include a method and apparatus for communication of infrared pulse sequences, typically emitted by remote control units associated with audio/video equipment, across a wired or wireless home network. One embodiment of the invention allows one audio/video device to receive a data code sequence from a remote control unit programmed to communicate with another audio/video device and pass on to other audio/video device messages/commands to control the second audio/video device.
Abstract:
A hand-held remote control which can be configured to communicate command codes to one or more home appliances of different makes, models, and manufacturers and a relay unit that can communicate with the remote control. The relay unit has a button that corresponds to a key on the remote control. When the button on the relay unit is activated, the relay unit signals the remote control. In response to the receipt of the signal indicating activation of the button or in response to activation of the key on the remote control, the remote control communicates to one or more of the home appliances those command codes that have been mapped to the key. Command codes are communicated to the home appliances using native communication protocols.
Abstract:
Devices and methods are disclosed for establishing device interaction among electronic devices of an environment. The device has a transmitter, receiver, memory storing interaction rules and a processor for implementing the interaction rules in association with the transmitter, receiver, and other devices of the environment. The device also includes components for performing the device specific functions and a state sensor for determining the logical or physical state of the device. The methods involve detecting a change of state at a device and then communicating in accordance with the interaction rules thereafter. The communication may involve broadcasting change of state messages to the environment, directing change of state messages to specific devices, and directing requests and/or directing replies to requests. Through device interaction, changes of state may automatically occur at one device in response to a change of state at another in order to reduce the burden on the user.
Abstract:
In a remote keyless system, a fob is disclosed, which provides the user with selective control of elements in a property in concert with a controller at the property, while the fob is nearby the property. In one example the fob is a wireless portable terminal, which accepts a biometric information having been presented by a user. A transducer generates a digital data based on the biometric information. A data store receives and stores the digital data generated by the transducer. A transmitter is responsive to the digital data having been stored in the data store for broadcasting a signal, at a predetermined frequency and modulated by the stored digital data for reception by the controller, after an interval of time corresponding to a time for the user carrying the wireless portable terminal to have traveled a distance, such that the user may present a predetermined biometric characteristic at a convenient place and time prior to the time of a consequent effect thereof at said property.

Abstract:
A trainable transmitter includes code generation circuitry and a socket for receiving a plug-in module including circuitry for generating an RF signal. By selecting the appropriate plug-in module, the user can expand the frequency transmission range of the transmitter beyond that which may be pre-installed on the transmitter.
Abstract:
A radio frequency antenna for use with a wall mounted transmitter and/or receiver for receiving and/or transmitting signals adapted to control a control device and/or indicate status of the control device. The antenna includes an insulating substrate sized to fit within an area defined by a faceplate sized to cover an outwardly facing opening of an electrical wallbox. Conductors are disposed on both sides of the substrate forming a capacitive component. At least one of the conductors is adapted to radiate radio frequency energy into the environment. The one conductor is electrically coupled to the other conductor, and the one conductor has a pattern such that the conductor is absent in areas so as to provide the antenna with an inductive component. The at least one conductor further provides a connection to the transmitter and/or receiver. The antenna provides an antenna near-field which is substantially at the edges of the substrate and which provides insubstantial electromagnetic field coupling to an electronic circuit disposed adjacent the antenna connected to the antenna and further provides a radiated field substantially isotropic in the antenna far-field.
