A method for operating a remote controller for remotely controlling a device, and which includes wirelessly receiving, by a receiving unit of the remote controller, information indicating that the currently connected external device is a first device, the information received from a second device that is different than the first device; determining, by a control unit of the remote controller, a type of the first device based on the received information; determining, by the control unit, keys on the remote controller to operate the first device; displaying, by a touch panel of the remote controller, the keys on the remote controller to operate the first device; receiving, by a user input unit of the remote controller, an input signal indicating a selection of at least one of the keys to operate the first device; and transmitting, by a transmitting unit of the remote controller, a remote control signal as a Radio Frequency (RF) signal, wherein the keys displayed on the remote controller to operate the first device are different from keys displayed on the remote controller to operate a third device different from the first device, and wherein the remote control signal is generated based on the received input signal.
Abstract:
A system and method for integrating furniture accessories with automated furniture items is provided. In embodiments, a communication protocol enables a remote device to control an automated furniture accessory coupled to a control component of an automated furniture item. Items of identifying information are provided to a control component based on coupling the automated furniture accessory to the CAN bus of the control component. According to the communication protocol, one or more packets of information are provided to the remote device using a wireless communication device of the control component. The remote device may then be used to control features of the automated furniture accessory, based on wireless communication with the control component. In some embodiments, the firmware of the remote device may be updated to enable the control component to be coupled to updated automated furniture accessories, and enable the remote device to control such accessories.

A remote control device is authorized to command the presentation of information from an information presenting device by communicating with the information presenting device by a first mode of communications while the remote control device and the information presenting device are proximate. In response to the authorizing, the information presenting device is unlocked to permit the presentation of information in response to commands from the remote control device. After the unlocking, the information presenting device presents information in response to commands from the remote control device.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for providing registration at a remote site that may include, for example, a monitoring module that may communicate with a remote site. A registration protocol may be used by the monitoring module and the remote site in generating the messages communicated during the registration process. The monitoring module may gather and generate various identification information to be included in the registration protocol messages. The registration information provided by the monitoring module may be stored at the remote site in a database server having a database. A confirmation message may be communicated from the remote site to the monitoring module that may either acknowledge successful registration or report that an error occurred during the registration process.

A multiple detection zone supplemental remote control system for a materials handling vehicle comprises one or more sensors capable of defining multiple contactless detection zones at least towards the front of the forward travel direction of a remotely controlled vehicle. The vehicle responds to the detection of objects within the designated zones based upon predetermined actions, such as to slow down or stop the vehicle, and/or to take other action, such as to perform a steer angle correction.

A trainable transceiver having an integrated interface connections with various vehicle modules for use with various remote electronic devices and a method of programming and using the same. The wireless trainable transceiver is in a vehicle with an integrated interface allowing connection to a human to machine interface and vehicle position determination device, such a navigation system and compass and the wireless trainable transceiver has the ability to change functions associated with preset buttons on the trainable transceiver, depending upon the location of the vehicle.

In response to a detected presence of an intended target appliance within a logical topography of controllable appliances identity information associated with the intended target appliance is used to automatically add to a graphical user interface of a controlling device an icon representative of the intended target appliance and to create at a Universal Control Engine a listing of communication methods for use in controlling corresponding functional operations of the intended target appliance. When the icon is later activated, the controlling device is placed into an operating state appropriate for controlling functional operations of the intended target appliance while the Universal Control Engine uses at least one of the communication methods to transmit at least one command to place the intended target appliance into a predetermined operating state.

A handheld security system comprises a set of handheld devices positioned at a group of access points to a secure area. The handheld device comprises a set of input/output devices including a text and graphics display, a camera, a local security database and a set of security devices including an RFID reader, a bar code reader, a magnetic stripe card reader and a biometric scanner. The set of handheld devices are communicatively connected through wireless signaling and protocol to one another and to a server operating a global a global security database. The local security database is synchronized to the global security database. A location stack table is continuously updated with security events and monitored for violation of a set of anti-passback rules. An association table associates a set of assets and a set of personnel, allowing for visitor tracking and asset tracking on a schedule.
