Abstract:
A discharge lamp having an improved run-up time is disclosed. In an embodiment, the discharge lamp includes a light-transmissive discharge tube extending from a first end to a second end and having an inner surface and an outer surface, a phosphor coating layered onto the inner surface of the discharge tube, and a fill gas composition capable of sustaining a discharge sealed within the discharge tube. Also included is a resistive heating wire positioned about the outer surface of the discharge tube. In some embodiments, a lamp driver circuit is included that operates when the lamp is turned ON to provide power to electrodes in the discharge tube and to provide power to the resistive heating wire, and operates to disconnect power from the resistive heating wire when the discharge lamp achieves a predetermined percentage of its stabilized lumen output.

The mounting device is a separate mounting substrate having a breaking strength between 100 and 1,000 MPa and is arranged on the bottom of the device.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a dielectric barrier discharge lamp in a coaxial double-tube arrangement, comprising an exterior electrode (6), and interior electrode (7), and an auxiliary electrode (8). The interior electrode (7) is designed as an electrically conductive layer placed inside the interior tube (3) of the double-tube arrangement. The auxiliary electrode (8) is designed, for example, as a metal tube or pipe and is also disposed inside the interior tube (3), specifically in direct contact with the layer. In this manner, the conductivity of the interior electrode (S) is improved.
Abstract:
An excimer discharge lamp comprises an electric discharge container having an electric discharge space, a pair of electrodes provided on an outer face of the electric discharge container, and an electric discharge gas enclosed in the electric discharge space. Further the electric discharge container comprises a tubular side wall on which the pair of electrodes is formed, one end wall for sealing one end of the side wall, and another end wall that is provided on the other side of the side wall. The side wall and the end walls are made of sapphire, YAG, or single crystal yttria. A chip pipe is provided on the another end wall, and a partition member made of sapphire, YAG, or single crystal yttria is formed between a shortest distance of the chip pipe and the inner face of the side wall.
Abstract:
A geometrically shaped photonic crystal structure consisting of alternating layers of thin films is heated to emit light. The structure may include index matching layers or a cavity layer to enhance emissions. The layer thicknesses of the structure may be spatially varied to modify the emission spectrum versus emission angle. The self-focusing structure may be fabricated into a convex electrically heated wire filament light bulb, a concave visible thermophotovoltaic emitter, a concentric directional heat exchanger, an electronic display, or a variety of irregularly shaped remotely read temperature or strain sensors.
Abstract:
The present invention is a novel, high resolution, color, three-dimensional (3-D) volumetric display system for dynamic images—the video cube. The video cube consists of an air-tight glass cube filled with a gas mixture and multiple planes of thin wires arranged in alternating orthogonal layers. These wires may be set at voltage potentials capable of producing a glow discharge at the intersection of pairs of wires. Using a computer capable of storing dynamic image data and electronic controllers capable of energizing pairs of wires appropriately at the proper time 3-D dynamic images may be formed from multiple glows between excited wire pairs. The video cube may be used to display complex real-time information from computers and other digital processors with high accuracy for unlimited number of simultaneous unaided observers.
Abstract:
A composite High Intensity Discharge (“HID”) arc tube includes a discharge tube and two outwardly extending tubes. The discharge tube is a composite two-layer shell with an outer of fused quartz glass or Vycor quartz glass, and a layer of translucent polycrystalline alumina (“PCA”). The outwardly extending tubes are made of fused quartz glass or Vycor quartz glass, and a layer of polycrystalline alumina is applied at ends of the outwardly extending tubes close to an arc chamber. After the arc tube is sintered at a high temperature, the electrode is sealed by being separated into two segments. The first segment of the outward extending tube applied with PCA is sealed by glass solders, and the second segment of quartz glass is sealed by a molybdenum foil under pressure.
Abstract:
A fluorescent lamp that can be easily manufactured to provide high brightness and high efficiency, a method of manufacturing the same, and a backlight unit having the same are provided. First and second non-emissive glass tube are joined to an emissive glass tube coated with a phosphor, and first and second electrodes are formed on outer surfaces of the first and second non-emissive glass tubes. The first and second non-emissive tubes may have the same diameter as the emissive glass tube. The first and second non-emissive glass tubes are simply joined to the emissive glass tube, thereby reducing the manufacturing process and cost. The first and second non-emissive glass tubes are formed to be thinner than the emissive glass tube, thereby enhancing the brightness and efficiency of the fluorescent lamp.
Abstract:
In an excimer lamp, rare gas and fluorine are enclosed inside a translucent ceramics arc tube. External electrodes are formed on an outer surface of the arc tube. A condition of 2.5+0.5 log(CF)≦G≦14−4 log(CF) is satisfied in the case of 0.1≦CF≦10, wherein G (mm) is a discharge gap in the arc tube and CF (%) is molar concentration of the fluorine.
