Abstract:
A five-port switch valve includes a cylinder having five chambers defined by four partitions, and two actuators. The valve body of one actuator alternately opens and closes a hole formed in the partition and a hole formed in the partition. The valve body of the other actuator alternately opens and closes a hole formed in the partition and a hole formed in the partition. By virtue of this structure, brine fed into the central chamber through a port is alternately fed into two pressure converters through ports.
Abstract:
A device for the treatment of water, in particular a filter device. The device has a cartridge which has a container for receiving treatment means for water, particularly for receiving filter means, and a connection head arranged on the container. In addition, a connection element is provided which has a recess for the connection head. At least one locking shaft is provided with which the connection head can be fixed in the connection element. The locking shaft is rotatably mounted and can be rotated from a locking position to an unlocking position and back again. The invention also relates to a cartridge with a recess in the connection head.
Abstract:
An antimicrobial method of treating wastewater and a wastewater antimicrobial dispenser containing an antimicrobial agent for treating a body of wastewater to kill microorganisms by increasing the concentration metal ions therein. The antimicrobial method includes the step of increasing the effectiveness of the biocidal component in the body of wastewater to thereby lessen the need for a supplemental biocide by adding a compound containing a hydantoin ring where the compound containing a hydantoin ring may or may not have any antimicrobial properties. The antimicrobial agent including a source of biocidal metal ions and a compound containing a hydantoin ring where the antimicrobial agent may be a powder, a liquid a solid or combinations thereof.
Abstract:
A device for treating water, particularly a filtration device, including a cartridge, which has a receptacle for receiving treatment agents for water, particularly for receiving filtration agents, and a connecting head disposed on the receptacle, wherein the connecting head at the outer surface thereof has at least one inlet opening and at least one outlet opening. The device further includes a connecting element, which has a holder for the connecting head with at least one inflow opening and an outflow opening, which are connected to the inlet and outlet openings of the connecting head in a sealing manner by means of sealing elements. The connecting head is tapered toward the free end, wherein the outer surface has at least one first curved outer surface section, which is inclined toward the longitudinal axis of the cartridge, and a second outer surface section opposite from the first outer surface section. The inlet and outlet openings are located in the first and/or the second outer surface sections. The connecting head is inserted in the holder in the axial direction, wherein the inside surface of the holder has first and second inside surface sections that complement at least the first and second outside surface sections.
Abstract:
A fluid (e.g. liquid) treatment cartridge assembly for holding solid (particulate) matter therein for contact with a fluid (e.g. a liquid medium). The cartridge comprises an outer cylindrical housing component, having a first cylindrical axis, and an inner tubular component disposed within the cylindrical housing component. The outer cylindrical housing component includes a plurality of wall panels which are interconnected by slider interlock means disposed and configured such that adjacent wall panels are slide interlocked thereby.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a water filter device comprising a filter head with filter head components, a replaceable filter candle with filter candle components, and an encoding structure which is formed between a filter head component and a filter candle component. Said water filter device is distinguished, in a first embodiment, in that an encoding structure is formed with axial orientation on an end face of the filter candle and/or on an element which is associated with such an end face of the filter candle. In a second embodiment, said water filter device is distinguished in that an encoding structure is formed separately from a fixing structure.
Abstract:
A replaceable cartridge type filter for filtering systems for processing drinking water includes a casing for containing the filtering material which extends externally from an annular edge which defines a sealing surface, which is provided so as to engage in a sealing manner with a corresponding seat for receiving and retaining the cartridge so as to identify an upstream portion and a downstream portion of the cartridge which communicate with each other only by way of the cartridge. At the annular edge the filter comprises a deformable seal, whose deformability under load is substantially greater than the deformability of the edge.
Abstract:
A reactor apparatus and method for removing chemical and biological contaminants from a contaminated fluid while minimizing disinfection by-products, sludges, and harmful residue. The reactor has a sequential, multi-stage, reaction vessel with an upper end region and a lower end region. The vessel has a liquid inlet port into which the contaminated fluid may pass. Treated liquid may exit the reactor through a liquid outlet port. A gas inlet port and a gas outlet port are provided. A plurality of stacked reaction chambers have a sieve tray and flange assembly, the sieve tray having holes up through which a gaseous phase may pass. A gas phase electrode, an electrical power supply capable of producing pulsed electrical discharges connected thereto, and a liquid phase electrode are provided. The electrodes create therebetween a pulsed corona discharge for generating reactive species in situ and destroying bacterial contaminants in the liquid. A weir-downcomer tube has an upper portion situated above a level of liquid in the associated chamber. The lower portion is situated below a level of liquid in a reaction chamber next below. The weir-downcomer tube minimizes or prevents back flow of liquid from a reaction chamber to an upstream reaction chamber.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for breaking the electrical continuity of the stream of caustic soda produced in mercury-cathode chlor-alkali plants. The device is comprised of a vessel internally subdivided into three compartments by two flow-conveying septa, the three compartments being in communication and defining a caustic soda tortuous flow-path allowing the centrifugal deposition of mercury microdroplets released by the upstream amalgam decomposer
Abstract:
Some demonstrative embodiments of the invention include an illumination-based liquid disinfection device. The disinfection device may include, for example, a conduit to carry a flowing liquid to be disinfected, the conduit having an inlet to receive the liquid and an outlet to discharge the liquid; at least one illumination source external to the conduit to illuminate the liquid with light through a shaped non-flat window. The non-flat window may redistribute the light in the conduit so as to improve uniformity of light-dose received by entities such as micro-organisms and or chemicals within the liquid.
