Mineral oil compositions with trace portions of additives contain as additive a comb polymer containing ester linkages, either based on a) ethylene-vinylester copolymers modified by hydroxy groups or glycidyl groups with molecular mass weight averages from 3000 to 50000 and an ethylene portion of 50 to 90 mass %, and b) partially imidated and/or partially esterified maleic anhydride copolymers, wherein in the comb polymer based on a) and b) the modified ethylene-vinylester copolymer component is connected by means of ester linkages to the partially imidated and/or partially esterified maleic anhydride copolymer component, or a comb polymer containing ester linkages based on c) ethylene-vinylester copolymers modified by acid and/or acid anhydride groups with molecular mass weight averages from 3000 to 50000 and an ethylene portion of 50 to 90 mass %, and d) polyalcohols partially esterified with C12-C40-monocarboxylic acids wherein in the comb polymer based on c) and d) the ethylene-vinylester copolymer component modified by acid and/or acid anhydride groups is connected by means of ester linkages with the polyalcohol component partially esterified with C12-C40-monocarboxylic acids. The mineral oil compositions are suitable as flowable media to be transported at low temperatures and as mineral oil fuels with high lubricity and flowability.

The present invention provides an additive for improving the lubricity of fuel oils having a maximum sulfur content of 0.035% by weight. The additive comprises A) at least one partial ester composed of a di- or polyhydric alcohol and unsaturated and optionally also saturated fatty acids whose carbon chain lengths are between 8 and 30 carbon atoms, at least 60% of the fatty acid radicals containing at least one double bond, and B) at least one alkylphenol-aldehyde resin, obtainable by the condensation of (i) at least one alkylphenol having at least one C6-C24-alkyl or C6-C24-alkenyl radical and (ii) at least one aldehyde or ketone, to a degree of condensation of between 2 and 50 alkylphenol units.

A fuel oil composition comprising a major amount of a fuel oil and a minor amount of a compound being the product of the 1,4-addition reaction of (i) ammonia, a primary or secondary hydrocarbyl-substituted amine or a mixture thereof to (ii) a species containing one or more α,β-unsaturated carbonyl groups, wherein the compound includes at least one hydrocarbyl group containing at least 10 carbon atoms. The fuel oil composition has improved low temperature properties.

In a method of operating an internal combustion engine, an antioxidant composition is introduced into a combustion chamber of the engine. The antioxidant composition contains (A) a sterically hindered phenol; (B) an alkylene or alkylidene coupled sterically hindered phenol oligomer; (C) a secondary aromatic amine; (D) a reaction product of a hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxy-containing aromatic compound, an aldehyde, and a carboxyl-substituted phenol; or (E) a mixture thereof. The method improves the performance of a lubricating oil of the engine.
