Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for interfacing portable devices with digital sender devices. Accordingly, a portable device can send and receive e-mail or other like message data through a digital sender device. The e-mail that is sent from the portable device can be selectively modified by the digital sender device to include scanned object data produced by the digital sender device or other e-mail information. The digital sender device may be included within a multiple function peripheral (MFP) device.
Abstract:
Device and method for managing a snap shot in a USB camera, the device including a camera for taking, and digitizing an image, and providing the image through an end point exclusive for an image, an interface unit for inserting either a frame sync pattern between frames of image data provided through an end point exclusive for an image or a snap shot sync pattern instead of the frame sync pattern in a snap shot mode, and a USB host for displaying an image data provided from the interface unit on a monitor in the USB host or forwarding for a picture communication, the method including the steps of (1) determining turning on/off of a snap shot button on the camera, (2) according to a result of the determination, either inserting a frame sync pattern between frames of image data and providing to the USB host, or inserting a snap shot sync pattern instead of the frame sync pattern and providing to the USB host, and (3) either displaying an image data having the frame sync pattern or the snap shot sync pattern inserted thereto on a monitor or transmitting the image data to other external USB host, whereby improving a USB performance since the end point exclusive for an image can be used for other purposes, and reducing a number of pins and simplifying a system of the driver in view of the position of the host, in a case when the end point exclusive for snap shot is not used for other purpose.
Abstract:
A multi-function document machine, such as a combined printer-copier-scanner-facsimile, accepts image data from one or more remote image input devices. Each image input device includes recording means, such as a digital camera or hand-held scanner, and sending means, such as a wireless transmitter. Image data recorded by the image input device is sent to the machine along with an instruction, such as to print or retain the image data. Image data received into the machine is merged into the regular job queue of the machine, alongside conventional print, copy, and scan jobs.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for managing the display of digital image content. In one example, a host system that includes a computing device and a fixed storage device is connected by a network to a remote display device and optionally, to the Internet. The host system stores a plurality of digital images and parameters for controlling the selection and transmission of a subset of the images to the remote display device for viewing. The display device includes a processor and display screen, as well as a user interface for input of control instructionsnullpreferably, a touch sensitive display screen. In one method of managing the images displayed, the host system continuously transmits new selected images to the display device where they are temporarily cached and displayed. A selected image may be manipulated or transmitted to outside parties by extemporaneous user instructions.
Abstract:
The verification system of this invention comprises an image forming apparatus 1 having verification function and a card reader 2 for reading a user ID from a card. The image forming apparatus 1 is capable of performing short-range radio communication with a portable instrument 3. The portable instrument 3 receives a polling command transmitted by the image forming apparatus 1 and sends back its own identification code if it is located near the image forming apparatus 1. The image forming apparatus 1 permits usage of all the functions thereof if it verifies that user is an officially permitted person according to user ID read by the card reader 2 and the identification code sent back from the portable instrument 3. Consequently, there is provided a verification system having a high security level and convenient for use or a verification system which permits usage of its apparatus and other related devices within an appropriate range depending on the security level of a verified method.
Abstract:
A method facilitating the transfer of information from a media or data capture device to a larger device while providing valuable feedback about the transfer is described. A transfer device including a simple user interface that can be easily implemented on a media or data capture device provides feedback about the transfer operation, enabling the user to take action when necessary. For example, the user is advised if the transfer is complete or, alternatively, that the transfer has failed and needs to redone. Feedback is provided by visual signals and may also be accompanied by audible signals. All necessary transfer functionality is included on the media capture device, thereby avoiding the requirement for dedicated software on a host (or pipeline) device, such as a cellular phone. This expands the number of pipeline devices that can be utilized with particular media capture devices. As long as there is a correct interface between the data capture device and the pipeline device, all the necessary transfer functionality can be included in the data capture device.
Abstract:
Image processing apparatus having a data processing unit, a first interface having a plurality of logical channels for connecting with an external processing apparatus, a second interface having a logical channel that has a different configuration from the first interface for connecting with the data processing unit, and a control unit for controlling data transfer between the first interface and second interface.
Abstract:
A DCE sends a first command to a DTE if data transmission from the DCE has not ended at a predetermined timing after the end of data transfer from the DTE to the DCE. The DTE sends a second command to the DCE at an arbitrary timing upon reception of the first command. Upon reception of the second command, the DCE sends to the DTE the first command if data transmission has not ended, or a third command if data transmission has ended. The DTE and DCE execute a post-data transmission procedure after they exchange the third command.
Abstract:
An apparatus for creating a digital photo album is disclosed. Digital photo albums may be created on the storage media by a method that includes the steps of displaying a group of images, receiving instructions to select a subset of those images and save the subset as an album, compressing the files corresponding to those images and saving the compressed files to the storage medium.
Abstract:
The status notification system has a potable terminal and multiple devices including a device for executing a job. At least one of these multiple devices is equipped with a short-distance communication unit for conducting short-distance communication with the portable terminal. The job-executing device is equipped with a detector for detecting a device, which is capable of short-distance communication with the portable terminal, and transfers status information concerning the job-executing device's status to the detected device in case the detected device is not the job-executing device. The device detected by the detector transmits the status information to the portable terminal via the short-distance communication unit.
