A interactive voice response system includes a user interface having a plurality of icons each icon representing a respective interactive voice response (IVR) function and editor. The editor is configured to allow a tree structure to be built by graphic manipulation of the icons. The tree structure defines a sequence of IVR functions to be executed by an IVR system. an application generator, is responsive to the tree structure defined using the editor to generate a voice extended markup language (voiceXML) representation of the sequence of IVR functions represented by the tree. The voiceXML representation of the sequence is transferred to a voiceXML server for execution.
Abstract:
A secure telephone call management system is provided for authenticating users of a telephone system in an institutional facility. Authentication of the users of the telephone call management system is accomplished by using a personal identification number, biometric means, and/or radio frequency means. The secure telephone call management system includes accounting software capable of limiting access to the system based on funds in a user's account or other related limitations. The system includes management software capable of implementing widespread or local changes to the system and is further capable of modifying or setting any number of user account parameters.
Abstract:
A thematic segmentation tool generates indications of thematically coherent segments within a document. The thematic segmentation tool includes a transcription component, a speaker boundary detection component, a linguistic detection component, and a topic classification component. Each of these components generates input information for a thematic decision component, which generates the thematic segmentation information. Multiple thematic segments may concurrently apply to a portion of a document. Additionally, the thematic segments may be hierarchical thematic segments.
Abstract:
Voicemail notification messaging for mobile communication devices is disclosed. Voicemail notification messages corresponding to voicemail messages are received through a wireless receiver of the mobile device and voicemail message header lines corresponding to them are displayed in a message list. The mobile device receives the voicemail notification messages from several different voicemail systems for consolidating voicemail message processing using a single common user interface. Preferably, the mobile device provides a graphical user interface (GUI) for the end-user with visual objects corresponding to PLAY, REWIND, FAST FORWARD, SKIP BACK, SKIP FORWARD, as examples, which provides for transparency of voicemail system-specific commands. Advantageously, each voicemail notification message includes voicemail message summary information, such as a calling party identifier, a message time stamp, and message length, for use in providing voicemail message header information in the message list. In addition, each voicemail notification message includes voicemail message retrieval/processing information, such as a voicemail access telephone number, a voicemail message identification number, and voicemail message processing commands, for use in providing the system interface transparency.

A method and system which utilize a graphical user interface to identify potential participants in a teleconference, specify a user-controlled dial-up/hang-up order, and monitor the status of participants to the teleconference. The method and system receive conference commands from a World Wide Web (WWW) browser and translate the conference commands into commands that control a telephone bridge.

For notifying messages received in a messaging system to a terminal, for example a mobile radio telephone, a notification server sends the terminal a notification including addresses of graphical elements supplied by message analyzer means and in corresponding relationship to events of all of the messages received. In the terminal, an image construction system connected to a graphical element database constructs and shows a behavior of the vector image made up of graphical elements selected in the database as a function of the graphical element addresses included in the notification transmitted.
Abstract:
A system and method for teleconferencing between conferees connected through a connectionless network and conferees connected through a connection-oriented network having a bridge. A call server connects to a bridge hosting a teleconference among connection-oriented conferees and joins the teleconference. The connection-oriented signal received by the call server is converted into a connectionless signal and sent to authorized, authenticated conferees connected through the connectionless network. The call server receives a connectionless signal from a conferee through the connectionless network, converts the signal to a connection-oriented signal and sends the connection-oriented signal to the bridge. Connectionless signals are stored in a database to be analyzed or sent to other conferees, such as those who were unavailable to join the teleconference as it occurred. The call server provides multimedia interfaces to conferees by which the conferees can monitor and join an ongoing teleconference, access a stored teleconference, or configure a new teleconference. The call server can also bridge teleconferences hosted on two or more bridges, expanding the audience for a given teleconference beyond the capacity of a single bridge.
Abstract:
A method for setting a menu shown on a display of a terminal in accordance with the interest of a user. In the method, the terminal sends a transmission request for menu information to a setting system. The menu information, which is stored in the setting system, is used to set a graphical user interface that is included in the menu. The setting system retrieves the menu information in response to the transmission request for the menu information. The setting system transmits the retrieved menu information to the terminal. The terminal uses the received menu information to change the setting of the menu.
