Abstract:
A pneumatic handling and recoating apparatus for handling workpieces, such as glass, is provided. The apparatus utilizes a holding device operatively connected to a vacuum assembly. The holding device engages workpieces by vacuum and subsequently releases them by a burst of gas. The burst of gas also facilitates the application of a coating material, such as a stain-retardant agent, to a workpiece upon release from the holding device.
Abstract:
An pneumatic tensioner apparatus is disclosed, the apparatus including: a main drive belt; a chuck assembly, suspended from the main drive belt, having a spinning member and a drive contact portion; a first frictional drive belt in a first track, the first frictional drive belt in contact with the drive contact portion operative to spin the chuck assembly; and a first tension adjusting device having at least one pneumatic tension adjustment member operative to apply pressure to the first frictional drive belt tangentially to the drive contact portion.
Abstract:
An overhead conveyor is operated at a slower speed within the treatment area or buffer than the speed of a conveyor delivering products to the treatment area or buffer and the speed of a conveyor removing products from the treatment area or buffer. Elongated products are delivered to the treatment area or buffer so that the direction of product elongation corresponds with the conveying direction and are removed from the treatment area or buffer so that the direction of product elongation corresponds with the conveying direction, particularly by being suspended from two carriages of an overhead conveyor system. Within the treatment area or buffer, the two carriages that are serially located or in tandem while traveling on the delivery conveyor and the exit conveyor, are placed on separate parallel conveyors so that the orientation of the elongation direction of the products is perpendicular to the conveying direction within the treatment area or buffer. With guides or a transfer, only one carriage of the two carriages handling a single product need be driven, and the other carriage may simply by conveyed on a gravity or drag conveyor or rail.
Abstract:
A continuous, automated method and apparatus for transporting and electrostatically coating articles including providing a plurality of articles in an unoriented bulk state, each article having a first end portion, orienting each article and transporting them into a desired position, transferring each article in succession to a moving conveyor, suspending each article from the conveyor by its end portion and conveying the articles for electrostatic coating and curing.
Abstract:
The improved method of making a self-locking threaded element having a strongly adhered plastic body on its threaded surface providing strong frictional engagement between the element and a mating threaded surface in which fine particles of heat softenable plastic are applied against a heated threaded surface in a plurality of spaced successive portions in time and temperature controlled relation such that a first portion is softened by heat prior to application of a successive portion of the particles to aid in holding particles of successive portions to enable manufacture at a higher rate and/or at lower temperatures than heretofore practicable.
