Abstract: The invention relates to an aqueous polyolefin dispersion comprising a. from 50 to 100 wt. % of an aqueous dispersion A comprising the following ingredients: i. from 60.0 to 98.9 wt. % of A1, a copolymer of polyethylene and (meth)acrylic acid [E(M)AA] or a mixture of different copolymers of polyethylene and (meth)acrylic acid, ii. from 1.0 to 39.0 wt. % of A2, another polymer or a mixture of other polymers, not being a copolymer of polyethylene and (meth)acrylic acid, selected from the group consisting of copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate (EVA) and copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate (EVA) modified with maleic anhydride, iii. from 0.1-10.0 wt. % of a silicate component A3 (wt. % refers to the relevant SiO2 content) and iv. from 0-20 wt. % of additive not being A1, A2 or A3,b. from 0 to 50 wt. % of a compound B, where compound B is a material dispersable or soluble in water and different from any of the ingredients of dispersion A wherein—the wt. % of A and B is based on the solid content of the whole aqueous polyolefin dispersion, —the wt % of the ingredients of dispersion A is based on the solid content of dispersion A, the sum of the wt. % of ingredients i to iv) of dispersion A is 100%.

Abstract: A process for manufacturing a cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) gel product is comprising the steps of: (a) preparing an aqueous mixture of HA and a cross-linking agent selected from multiepoxides and diepoxides; wherein the HA is dissolved in an aqueous solution containing 1-10% (w/w) inorganic hydroxide; and wherein the dissolved HA constitutes more than 10% (w/w) of the final mixture; and (b) subjecting the aqueous mixture to cross-linking conditions to allow the dissolved HA to react with the cross-linking agent so as to obtain a cross-linked HA gel product.

Abstract: The present invention belongs to the technical field of functional film materials; disclosed are a wavelength-controllable cellulose iridescent film and a method for preparation thereof. The method is: (1) mixing well a cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) suspension with lactic acid solution and glucose solution to obtain a CNC/lactic acid/glucose mixed solution; said CNC suspension being a cellulose nanocrystal suspension; (2) drying the CNC/lactic acid/glucose mixed solution to form a film to obtain a cellulose iridescent film. The method of the present invention is simple and low in cost. In the present invention, by means of the addition of lactic acid and glucose, the prepared film has iridescent film characteristics; the wavelength of the iridescent film is within the range of visible light, and the wavelengths of different colors of iridescent film are controllable.

Abstract: An aqueous or water-borne precursor liquid for forming an odor-absorbing and anti-fouling heterophasic thermoset polymeric coating is provided. The precursor includes a fluorine-containing polyol precursor having a functionality >about 2 that forms a branched fluorine-containing polymer component defining a first phase in the anti-fouling heterophasic thermoset polymeric coating. The precursor also includes a first precursor that forms a first component including a cyclodextrin present as second phase. The first phase can be a continuous phase and the second phase can be a first discrete phase, or the second phase can be the continuous phase and the first phase can be the first discrete phase. A crosslinking agent, water, and optional acid or base are also present. An emulsifier may also be included. Methods of making an odor-absorbing and anti-fouling heterophasic thermoset polymeric coatings with such precursors are also provided.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a coating composition or paint comprising a multistage latex with at least first and second stages, wherein the composition or paint is substantially free of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and capable of film formation even in the absence of coalescent agents. The base paint formulation is capable of being tinted at a point-of-sale (i.e. in-store) using a colorant composition of a type and quantity required to produce a paint of desired color and finish. The paints, show improved block resistance, scrub resistance and tack resistance. Rheological techniques as described herein may be used to determine tack resistance, print resistance, and other performance characteristics.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a dispersion comprising (A) a carrier fluid in an amount from 35 to 95 wt. %, the carrier fluid comprising: (A1) water, and (A2) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, ethyl acetate, n-propyl acetate, isopropyl acetate, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone and any mixture of at least two of these compounds, whereby the amount of water (A1) relative to the carrier fluid (A) is less than 85 wt. % and the amount of water relative to the dispersion is from 1 to 30 wt. %; and (B) polymer(s) in an amount from 5 to 65 wt. %, the polymer(s) comprising: (B1) polymeric particles having a volume average particle size from 1 μm to 20 μm, whereby the polymer of the polymeric particles (B1) has a weight average molecular weight of at least 100 kDaltons and whereby the polymer of the polymeric particles (B1) is selected from the group consisting of polyurethane, polyurethane-polyacrylate hybrid and any mixture thereof; and whereby the amounts of (A) and (B) are given relative to the total amount of (A) and (B).
