Abstract:
The present disclosure provides compositions and methods for reducing deposit formation in engines combusting a fuel containing ethanol and a corrosion inhibitor. The present disclosure also provides compositions and methods for reducing deposit formation in engines combusting a fuel containing ethanol, a corrosion inhibitor, and a dispersant.
Abstract:
An adjustable fuel power booster component composition having three components: (A) an ignition accelerator which is preferably normal propyl nitrate and/or diterbutyl peroxide; (B) propylene glycol monoalkyl ether and/or butylene glycol monoalkyl ether; and (C) methyl carbonate and/or ethyl carbonate and/or propyl carbonate and/or butyl carbonate, which may be used mixed in any proportion with methylal (dimethoxymethane) or ethylal (diethoxymethane). The adjustable fuel power booster component composition of the present invention can be used by itself or in mixture with gasoline, diesel or burning oils in combustion engines without the need for modification thereof. The adjustable fuel power booster component composition enables low energy content alcohol based fuels to substitute conventional fuels, such as gasoline or diesel, in conventional non-modified internal combustion engines, thereby generating lower amounts of toxic gas emission all the while proving more power.
Abstract:
Diesel fuels with additives to increase cetane number include chemistries to increase surface absorption and improve lubricity in high cetane number fuels. Fuels and additives also contain thermal stability improvers.
Abstract:
An emergency fuel for an internal combustion engine comprises a hydrocarbon solvent having a flash point of at least 100° F. (such as about 65-75% paraffins and about 25-35% naphthenes, or about 75-85% paraffins and about 15-25% of C7 or higher alcohols, or an aromatic solvent, or an naphthalene-depleted aromatic solvent) and a cold starting additive. The cold starting additive may be provided in an amount of less than 5,000 ppm, preferably between about 1 ppm and 150 ppm. The cold starting additive is preferably selected from peroxides, azo compounds, cyano compounds, cetane improvers, or combinations of these compounds. When the emergency fuel is added to a cold engine, including one substantially at room temperature, the engine may be easily started.
Abstract:
A method of formulating a fuel emulsion composition for use in a specified compression ignition engine in which the fuel composition includes a hydrocarbon petroleum distillate, purified water; alcohol; and an additive composition comprising various ingredients. The types and amounts of the fuel and alcohol are selected so that the sum of its net heating value (lower heating value * percent of total composition) and the net heating value of the additive composition yields a net heating value of the aqueous fuel composition that is within the operating parameters for fuel heating values for the engine.
Abstract:
An emulsion fuel additive to be mixed with a fuel oil and water for forming an emulsion fuel oil is disclosed. The emulsion fuel oil additive includes an emulsion reagent for forming a water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion fuel oil with the fuel oil and the water, a combustion-assisting reagent for improving ignition and combustion of the emulsion fuel oil, a stabilization reagent for forming an interface membrane between the fuel oil and the water by a chemical reaction at a specific temperature, a promotion reagent for promoting emulsification of the fuel oil and the water and promoting the interface membrane formation by the stabilization reagent, and an antioxidant reagent for preventing deterioration of the emulsion fuel oil during storage.
Abstract:
A splash-blendable, solubilized diesel fuel composition includes a diesel fuel, ethanol, a stabilizing additive and, optionally, an alkyl ester of a fatty acid and/or a co-solvent. The stabilizing additive is either a mixture of fatty acid alcohols, a polymeric material, or a combination of the mixture and the polymeric material.

Abstract:
An additive composition for use in Diesel fuel to be combusted in a Diesel engine, the composition comprising, in admixture form:(a) about 6.0 weight percent di-tertiary butyl peroxide,(b) about 1.0 weight percent tall oil fatty imidazoline,(c) about 0.5 weight percent neo decanoic acid,(d) the balance being a hydrocarbon solvent carrier thoroughly mixed with the peroxide, imidazoline, and acid.
