    Abstract: Palladium-based catalyst systems are provided for reforming of hydrocarbons, along with methods for using such catalyst systems. The catalyst systems can be deposited or otherwise coated on a surface or structure, such as a monolith, to achieve improved activity and/or structural stability. It has been discovered that loss of catalytic activity for reforming over time can be reduced or minimized for palladium-based catalyst system by operating the reactor/performing a reaction cycle so that the portion of the reaction environment containing the palladium-based catalyst system is not exposed to oxidizing conditions at temperatures between 600° C. and 900° C. Optionally, the reactor can also be operated/the reaction cycle can also be designed so that during a reforming cycle, the peak temperature in the portion of the reaction environment containing the palladium-based catalyst system is 1300° C. or less.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to two improved catalysts and associated processes that directly convert carbon dioxide and hydrogen to liquid fuels. A catalytic system comprises two catalysts in series that are operated in tandem to directly produce synthetic liquid fuels. The carbon conversion efficiency for CO2 to liquid fuels is greater than 45%. The fuel is distilled into a premium diesel fuels (approximately 70 volume %) and naphtha (approximately 30 volume %) which are used directly as “drop-in” fuels without requiring any further processing. Any light hydrocarbons that are present with the carbon dioxide are also converted directly to fuels. This process is directly applicable to the conversion of CO2 collected from ethanol plants, cement plants, power plants, biogas, carbon dioxide/hydrocarbon mixtures from secondary oil recovery, and other carbon dioxide/hydrocarbon streams. The catalyst system is durable, efficient and maintains a relatively constant level of fuel productivity over long periods of time without requiring re-activation or replacement.

    Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst that can prevent a decrease in the exhaust gas purification performance by phosphorus poisoning, and the present invention provides an exhaust gas purification catalyst (1A), including a substrate (10) and first and second catalyst layers (20, 30) each provided on the substrate (10), wherein the second catalyst layer (30) is provided on an upside or upstream of the first catalyst layer (20), wherein the first catalyst layer (20) contains at least one selected from Pd and Pt, wherein the second catalyst layer (30) contains Rh, Al, and barium sulfate, wherein a mole ratio of a content of Al in the second catalyst layer (30) to a total content of all metal elements in the second catalyst layer (30) is 0.55 or more and 0.85 or less, and wherein a mole ratio of a content of Rh in the second catalyst layer (30) to a content of Ba in the second catalyst layer (30) is 0.0040 or more and 0.040 or less.
