Abstract:
An article, comprising a packaging article such as food or beverage container (20), or a portion thereof, that includes substrate (30, 32) and a coating (34) disposed on at least a portion of the substrate (30, 32). The coating (34) is preferably formed from a coating composition that comprises a latex emulsion having a first-stage copolymer, a second-stage copolymer, and a linkage interconnecting the first-stage copolymer and the second-stage copolymer prior to curing.

Also relates to the use and to the process for the manufacture of the device.
Abstract:
A method for a structure having a countersunk fastener head includes forcing an aliphatic urethane surfacer into a void around the fastener head.
Abstract:
A polysulfide coating composition includes an aliphatic, aromatic or cycloaliphatic material with at least 2 thiol groups; an aliphatic, aromatic or cycloaliphatic, acryl, polyester or polysiloxane-based material with at least two epoxy groups; and a catalyst. The coating provides a durable cavitation- and erosion-resistant coating for the rudders of ships, and is also suitable for sound-damping applications.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide a resin composition for optical articles, which has a blue light-blocking function, is white and transparent, and does not look yellow; and a laminate. According to at least one embodiment, the resin composition includes (A) 1 to 5 parts by mass of white inorganic microparticles and (B) 100 parts by mass of a transparent base resin. The resin composition is characterized in that (i) the white inorganic microparticles have an average particle diameter of 10 to 80 nm and (ii) the difference between the refractive index of the white inorganic microparticles and the refractive index of the base resin is 0.1 or more. According to at least one embodiment, there is provided a laminate which includes a hard coat layer or a cohesive/adhesive agent layer each made from the resin composition and a poly(meth)acrylic imide resin film layer.
Abstract:
A system and method for improved runnability of sheet fed and roll fed coaters comprising of a steam system and a conventional sheet fed coater. Headers of the steam system are positioned in such a way that steam from the steam system can be sprayed at the desired position over the rollers of conventional sheet fed coater. The steam system allows control of pressure, temperature, flow etc. of the steam sprayed over the rollers. The steam spray lubricates the coating roller and prevents lightweight thin substrates like paper or film etc. from sticking onto the surface of the coating roller. The present invention makes it possible to coat a lightweight thin substrate up to the edges of the substrate as clamps are not required to hold the substrate at the exit of the coater. The steam also helps to prevent drying up of coating substance over the roller surface.
Abstract:
A corrosion inhibiting composition including a liquid carrier having a surface tension of at most about 35 dynes/cm and an electrically conductive nanomaterial dispersed in the carrier.
Abstract:
Coatings configured to change between a relatively higher reflectivity state and a relatively lower reflectivity state depending at least partially upon temperature are generally disclosed. Some example coatings may include a selectively reflective layer including a plurality of microcapsules, which may include an ionic liquid and/or a surfactant within a shell. The microcapsules may have a relatively higher reflectivity when at temperatures above a cloud transition temperature and/or a relatively lower reflectivity when at temperatures below the cloud transition temperature. When at temperatures above the cloud transition temperature, the selectively reflective layer may reflect a first fraction of the incident light. When at temperatures below the cloud transition temperature, the selectively reflective layer may reflect a second fraction of the incident light. The first fraction of the incident light may be greater than the second fraction of the incident light.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a pressure sensitive adhesive waxed cloth tape comprising a fabric substrate having an adhesive layer infused on one surface and a wax layer infused on an opposing second surface, the wax layer including a tackifier resin. The pressure sensitive adhesive waxed cloth tape may be used to prevent buildup of snow and ice on a hockey stick blade during exposure to moisture, cold temperatures, snow, ice, and other harsh conditions. The tape will easily adhere to itself when in a rolled position prior to use or when overlapped on the stick blade while in use.
