Abstract: A light-emitting device includes a wiring substrate, a base member provided on the wiring substrate, a light-emitting element array that has a first side surface and a second side surface facing each other, that has a third side surface and a fourth side surface facing each other and connecting the first side surface and the second side surface, and that is provided on the base member, a drive unit that is provided on the wiring substrate at a side of the first side surface and drives the light-emitting element array, a first circuit element that is provided on the base member at the side of the first side surface, a second circuit element that is provided on the base member at a side of the second side surface and has a larger occupation area on the base member than the first circuit element, and wiring members that are provided at a side of the third side surface and at a side of the fourth side surface and extend from an upper surface electrode of the light-emitting element array toward an outer side of the light-emitting element array.

Abstract: Systems, methods and devices are for optical imaging are described. A system includes a light source and a light detection unit. The light source includes a light-emitting device and a first spectral filter opposite the light emitting device. The first spectral filter includes at least one dielectric filter and has a first angular dependence of a transmission passband. The light source further includes at least one reflector adjacent side surfaces of the light emitting device. The light detection unit includes an optical sensor and a second spectral filter opposite the optical sensor. The second spatial filter has a second angular dependence of a transmission passband that is matched to the first angular dependence.

Abstract: A light sensing module and an electronic device using the same are provided. The light sensing module includes a substrate, a light sensing unit, a first light-transmissive component and a blocking wall. The light sensing unit is disposed on the substrate to sense an intensity of a working light beam. The first light-transmissive component covers the light sensing unit, and has a first refractive index that is between a refractive index of the light sensing unit and a refractive index of air. The blocking wall is disposed on the substrate, and surrounds the light sensing unit and the first light-transmissive component.

Abstract: Color calibration for digital pathology is provided. A standard glass slide is prepared with a specimen having zero or more stains. The specimen is scanned a first time using a hyperspectral imaging system to produce a first digital image having XYZ color values. The specimen is scanned a second time using a digital pathology imaging system to produce a second digital image having RGB color values. The first and second digital images are then registered against each other to align the digital image data. Individual pixels of the first and second images may be combined in the registration process so that the first and second digital images have substantially similar pixel sizes. A lookup table is generated to associate XYZ color values to RGB color values. Once the lookup table has been generated, it can be used to present RGB color on a display using the corresponding XYZ color.

Abstract: A system, apparatus and method of improved measurement of the SPF factor of sunscreen compositions. In one embodiment, a method of measuring the protection of a sunscreen composition includes exposing skin to a known intensity of light, measuring the amount of remitted light from the skin, applying sunscreen to the skin, exposing the skin to which the sunscreen has been applied the known intensity of emitted light of the spectrum of light from which the sunscreen is intended to protect the skin, measuring the amount of light remitted from the skin, and calculating a UltraViolet-A Protection Factor (UVA-PF) of the sunscreen by comparing the amount of light remitted from the skin with the sunscreen to the amount of light remitted from the skin without the sunscreen.

In one aspect, the apparatus includes an optical assembly including a spatially extended light source and one or more optical elements arranged to direct light from the spatially extended light source along an optical path, a moveable frame supporting the optical assembly including one or more adjustable alignment features for guiding positioning of the stray-light testing apparatus relative to an onboard camera on a vehicle, and a shrouding mechanism attached to the frame and positioned on the frame such that, when the stray-light testing apparatus is aligned relative to the onboard camera on the vehicle and the optical path of the optical assembly is within the field of view of the onboard camera, ambient light exposure for the onboard camera is below a threshold.

Abstract: Described herein is a method of evaluating artificial lighting of a surface. The method may comprise measuring a first lumen output at a first location on the surface at a first altitude. The method may further comprise photographing the surface from a second altitude to obtain an aerial photograph of the surface comprising a plurality of pixels, each pixel of the plurality of pixels having a second lumen output, and performing an altitude adjustment on the second lumen output to obtain a third lumen output. The method may comprise dividing the aerial photograph into a plurality of zones, each zone corresponding to a section of the surface. The method may further comprise establishing a user-defined threshold lumen output for each zone of the plurality of zones, and identifying a percentage of the total number of pixels in each zone which meets or exceeds the user-defined threshold lumen output.
