Abstract: An inverter system is provided such that the system includes a direct-current (DC) voltage supply, an inverter, an electric machine such as a motor, and a controller coupled with the inverter. The inverter has four or more legs, each with two switches operating complementary to each other. The controller can determine which three of the four or more legs are selected to operate the inverter and uses a remaining one of the four or more legs to operate the inverter by activating/deactivating certain switches during null vector state.

Abstract: A system and method for avoiding unintended acceleration is provided and includes a first integrated circuit-based electronic controller configured to receive acceleration and brake requests and provide a control output via a datalink dedicated to controlling a prime mover system of the vehicle, a three-axis accelerometer configured to provide acceleration outputs indicative of acceleration of the accelerometer relative to three dimensions, and a second integrated circuit-based electronic controller operative independently of the first integrated circuit-based controller configured to receive the acceleration and braking requests, receive the acceleration outputs of the three-axis accelerometer, and operatively coupled with the datalink. The second integrated circuit-based electronic controller is configured to determine an unintended acceleration event in response to the acceleration and braking requests, and the acceleration outputs of the three-axis accelerometer.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a lubrication system comprising: a pump having an inlet in fluid communication with a lubricant source and an outlet; a cooler having an inlet in fluid communication with the outlet of the pump and an outlet; a lubrication filter having an inlet in fluid communication with the outlet of the cooler and an outlet; a first delivery path in fluid communication with the outlet of the lubrication filter, the first delivery path being configured to deliver cooled, filtered lubricant to a bearing system of an engine; and a second delivery path in fluid communication with the outlet of the pump, the second delivery path being configured to deliver uncooled, unfiltered lubricant to piston cooling nozzles of the engine.

Abstract: An energy recovery drive system includes a motor-generator that is structured to selectively operate in a motor mode and a generator mode. A first shaft is operatively coupled to a transmission power take-off shaft. A second shaft is operatively coupled to the motor-generator and to an alternative power source. The energy recovery drive system is controllably operated in a plurality of operating modes. In a first operating mode, the motor-generator is in torque providing engagement with each of the first and second shafts. In a second operating mode, the motor-generator is in torque communicating engagement with each of the first and second shafts. In a third operating mode, which the motor-generator is in torque communicating engagement with the second shaft and is disengaged from transferring torque to the first shaft and from receiving torque from the first shaft.

Abstract: A method includes inputting used oil analysis data to a pre-trained predictive model, the used oil analysis data including values quantifying a plurality of chemical components measured in a sample of used oil taken from an engine under analysis, determining a probability of at least one fail code with the pre-trained predictive model in response to the used oil analysis data, the at least one fail code corresponding to one of a plurality of predetermined engine failure types, providing the at least one fail code and the probability of the at least one fail code to an expert system, performing with the expert system a root cause analysis of the at least one fail code determine a root cause indicating a preventative maintenance action, and performing the predictive maintenance action on the engine under analysis.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods and systems for measuring an injected fuel quantity during multipulse injection events in a common rail of a fuel system including a fuel pump to supply fuel to the common rail. The method, using a control unit, determines if each of the multipulse injection events in a normal operating condition includes a pilot pulse; in response to determining that the pilot pulse is included, obtaining an enforced separation value between the pilot pulse and the main pulse to emulate a single-pulse injection; while the fuel pump is temporarily shut off, performing a temporary enforced separation on a fraction of the multipulse injection events; measuring a pressure change in the common rail during the temporary enforced separation; and resuming the normal operating condition of the multipulse injection events after the pressure change is measured.
