Abstract:
A shroud support apparatus for a ceramic component of a gas turbine having: an outer shroud block having a coupling to a casing of the gas turbine; a spring mass damper attached to the outer shroud block and including a spring biased piston extending through said outer shroud block, wherein the spring mass damper applies a load to the ceramic component; and the ceramic component has a forward flange and an aft flange each attachable to the outer shroud block.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to mutant SPE-C toxins or fragments thereof, vaccine and pharmaceutical compositions, and methods of using the vaccine and pharmaceutical compositions. The preferred SPE-C toxin has at least one amino acid change and is substantially non-lethal compared with the wild type SPE-C toxin. The mutant SPE-C toxins can form vaccine compositions useful to protect animals against the biological activities of wild type SPE-C toxin.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to heat tolerant phytases and DNA sequences which code therefor. The phytases are useful in hydrolyzing phytate to inositol and inorganic phosphates. The phytases are valuable feed additives.
Abstract:
A locking device for protecting the contents of a container from theft includes an extension member having an adjustable length and a lock for inhibiting adjustment of the extension member's length when the lock is engaged. To secure the contents of a container from theft, the locking device is installed between two opposing surfaces, such as between two vertical wall surfaces, with the extension member extending across the container door with the door in its closed position. The locking device is installed by simply inserting each end of the extension member into suitable cavities formed in the opposing surfaces, or in brackets attached to the opposing surfaces, adjusting the length of the extension member as necessary. Thereafter, the lock can be engaged to prevent adjustment of the extension member's length, and thereby prevent removal of the ends of the extension member from the surface openings. With the locking device so installed, and the extension member extending across and perhaps contacting a portion of the container door, the container door cannot be opened by prying or otherwise without first removing the locking device. Because the locking device cannot be removed without adjusting the length of the extension member, which in turn requires possession of the correct key or combination to disengage the lock, unauthorized access to the container contents is prevented.
Abstract:
A shovelling tool has a flexible portion at the base of the handle that helps prevent the risk of injury when shovelling by absorbing the initial shock when digging or by adjusting gradually to a different load when shovelling. This tool, which is preferably telescopic, is particularly useful for removing snow and ice.
Abstract:
A van wall brace for reinforcing a truncated pillar of a van wall which has been cut in order to accommodate a retrofitted window. The van wall brace connects to the severed end of truncated pillar and is tied into adjacent intact pillars so as to lend structural integrity to the truncated pillar, thereby restoring strength to the van wall. The van wall brace is preferred to be formed of a single piece of heavy gauge sheet metal stock of elongate shape. Each end of the sheet metal stock is stamped with a predetermined reciprocal pillar contour or contours for engaging the intact pillars located on either side of the truncated pillar or pillars. The sheet steel stock is further stamped between the ends thereof so as to provide another predetermined reciprocal pillar contour or contours for engaging each truncated pillar or pillars. The stamping location of each reciprocal pillar contour is predetermined so that the completed van wall brace will engage each of the aforesaid pillars of the particular van that has been modified. Between each of the aforesaid reciprocal pillar contours the sheet metal stock is preferred to be stamped to include edge flanges, thereby providing high strength against bending. The van wall brace is secured to the aforesaid pillars either by a standard fastener or by welding.
Abstract:
Process for formation of a hardened, insoluble or crosslinked stencil or resist image on a substrate, e.g., having a metal surface such as copper, and modifying the substrate or image surface comprising:A. forming an image on the substrate by applying a solvent-soluble thermoplastic copolymer of ethylene and .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated acid having an acid number of at least about 30, the copolymer reacting thermochemically with the substrate;B. fusing at a temperature and for a duration to induce the thermochemical reaction at a rate sufficient to partially insolubilize, harden or crosslink the polymeric image and adhere the polymeric image to the substrate surface to facilitate subsequent removal therefrom;C. modifying the uncovered substrate surface or the polymeric image surface, e.g., etching, plating, depositing, soldering; andD. removing the polymeric image. The image can be formed on the substrate by printing, electrostatic means, etc. The image may comprise particulate material having a plurality of fibers. The process is useful in making conductive printed circuits, chemical milling, etc.
Abstract:
A bottle assembly is provided having a body portion defining a cavity therein, a top lid assembly connectable to the body portion, which includes a selectively deployable and retractable spout, a spout bottom lid; and a resilient tube having a lumen therethrough, wherein the lumen is occluded when the spout is retracted and the resilient tube is kinked, and wherein the lumen is opened when the spout is deployed and the resilient tube is not kinked; a trigger assembly for selectively moving the spout between a deployed and a retracted condition; and a bottom lid assembly selectively connectable to a bottom end of the body portion, the bottom lid assembly including a valve assembly to open and close a fluid path into the cavity of the body portion.
