Abstract:
A method of implanting a prosthesis in a patient at a treatment site includes advancing an outer catheter of a prosthesis delivery system in the patient and advancing an inner sheath and a guidewire lumen of the delivery system from the outer catheter to the treatment site along a guidewire while the outer catheter remains stationary relative to the patient. The method also includes locking an apex release lumen, a sheath lumen and a guidewire lumen within the apex release lumen, with respect to an outer catheter and rotationally locking the apex release lumen, the sheath lumen and the guidewire lumen. The apex release lumen, the sheath lumen and the guidewire lumen are threaded onto a guidewire and directed into a patient and the apex release lumen and the sheath lumen are unlocked with respect to the outer catheter.
Abstract:
A versatile bag including: a bag, one or more removable and optionally reversible art panels, and one or more devices for attaching the one or more removable and optionally reversible art panels to the outside of the bag is provided. A method of decorating the bag is also provided.
Abstract:
A marker for the wingtip or other extremity of an aircraft. The marker includes a fabric pouch having a flap containing hook and loop fasteners, to hold the pouch on the aircraft extremity. A fabric tube extends outwardly and substantially horizontally from the pouch and supports a marker flag at its tip. The fabric tube contains a breakable support rod, so that if the aircraft wingtip collides with an object, the support rod will break and the flag will droop, providing a visible indication that a collision has occurred. The broken rod can then be replaced.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide methods for effecting a desired business solution. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a plurality of aspects of a business are analyzed. Each aspect corresponds to an element of a particular domain of a set of domains wherein the plurality of aspects corresponds to elements from at least two domains. A modification of each element that will result in a desired outcome in regard to the corresponding aspect is determined. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the business solution development process identifies and provides exit criteria pertaining to each stage of the business solution development process. For one embodiment of the invention a set of metrics are defined and tracked to measure the effectiveness of the business solution.
Abstract:
A hypocycloidal drive unit converts rotary to linear motion for use in high speed, high volume repetitive operations such as folding and lifting operations in the fiberglass insulation production industry. The drive unit is of low cost and low maintenance construction using a ring assembly with an inner planet wheel. An eccentric arm extends from the planet wheel and connects to crank arms joined to a lift arm which linearly and reciprocatingly slides in guides. The drive unit is characterized by the absence of gear teeth on the inner surface of the ring and on the planet wheel outer diameter. Various embodiments are disclosed including a circumferential chain around the ring and an inner planet wheel sprocket engaging the chain, a smooth inner ring circumferential surface and rubber faced planet wheel or tire traveling around the inner ring and an elastomeric cog belt and toothed planet wheel. The drive unit is able to withstand high cycle rates of up and down lift cycles per second during continuous operation.
Abstract:
A rotary compressor comprising a rotor having a plurality of permanent magnets mounted thereon and a stator, where the rotor is aligned with respect to the stator via a magnetic attraction between the permanent magnets and the stator. The compressor includes a housing and is configured such that the rotor does not entirely bear against a top or bottom portion of the compressor housing. The permanent magnets of the rotor are sized and configured such that the magnetic attraction between the magnets and the stator, regardless of whether the stator is energized, positions, or suspends, the rotor substantially intermediate the top and bottom portions of the housing. As a result, less or, possibly, even no friction is experienced between the rotor and the compressor housing which reduces the potential for the rotor to seize or stall and allows the compressor to be operated with little or no oil.
Abstract:
An x-ray source assembly includes an anode having a spot upon which electrons impinge based on power level supplied to the assembly, and an optic coupled to receive divergent x-rays generated at the spot and transmit output x-rays from the assembly. A control system is provided for maintaining intensity of the output x-rays dynamically during operation of the x-ray source assembly, notwithstanding a change in at least one operating condition of the x-ray source assembly, by changing the power level supplied to the assembly. The control system may include at least one actuator for effecting the change in the power level supplied to the assembly, by, e.g., controlling a power supply associated with the assembly. The control system may also change the temperature and/or the position of the anode to maintain the output intensity.
Abstract:
According to an embodiment of the present invention, a thermal management system for an electronic assembly includes an electronic component coupled to a substrate, the substrate coupled to a coldplate, a spring member disposed between and engaging both the electronic component and the coldplate, and a heat transfer element disposed within a chamber formed by the spring member.
Abstract:
A detachable waist belt for use with book bags and day packs significantly reduces the problems associated with carrying too much weight on the back. The waist belt and clamping system provide a retrofit system usable with any backpack or book bag. The system is especially beneficial to school children who are increasingly carrying too much weight in book bags.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for determining the predictability of an element in a weather radar image. An image filter approximating the envelope of the organized storm radar image is applied to a pixel in a received weather radar image to generate a processed pixel value. A variability value is determined from the variation in the pixel values of the neighboring pixels which lie within the image filter. The predictability is generated from the processed pixel value and the variability. Pixels having high processed pixel values and low variabilities typically correspond to pixels within a strong organized storm and, therefore, are more predictable. Pixels having low processed pixel values and high variabilities, such as pixels representative of airmass storms, generally have lower predictabilities.
