Abstract:
A method measures a property of a germicidal solution in an endoscope processor spectroscopically by placing a quantity of the solution into a cuvette and passing a light therethrough. A reservoir receives a quantity of the solution and bubbles are filtered out via a cross-flow filter prior to putting a sample therefrom into the cuvette for measuring.
Abstract:
Use of rocker shaft pedestals that are manufactured separately from the cylinder head and subsequently fixed to the cylinder head increases manufacturing and assembly costs of an internal combustion engine. The disclosed cylinder head obviates these problems by providing a cylinder head for an internal combustion engine that comprises a top deck and at least one integrally cast rocker shaft pedestal. A rocker shaft for use with a cylinder head of the invention includes at least one flat formed on an underside of the shaft that is adapted for mating with a top of a rocker shaft pedestal. Also described is an internal combustion engine comprising a cylinder block, a cylinder head having a top deck and at least one integrally cast rocker shaft pedestal, and a rocker shaft mounted on the at least one rocker shaft pedestal, the rocker shaft having a plurality of rocker arms mounted thereon. The rocker shaft includes at least one flat formed on an underside thereof adapted for mating with a top of the at least one rocker shaft pedestal. Also described is a method for manufacturing a cylinder head assembly including an integrally cast rocker shaft pedestal.
Abstract:
A method detects proper connection of fixtures to a channel in an endoscope and proper flow through the channel during a cleaning or disinfection procedure. The endoscope has a first opening into one of its channels to which is connected a fixture and a second opening which is placed into a liquid. Negative pressure at the first opening draws an amount of liquid through the channel which is measured. If the channel is blocked insufficient liquid will flow an be measured. If the fixture is not connected properly air will leak in and insufficient liquid will flow an be measured.
Abstract:
A laser measuring method in a laser measuring system, which comprises a rotary laser system for projecting a laser beam by rotary irradiation and at least one photodetection system having at least one photodetector for receiving the laser beam, comprising a step of emitting at least two fan-shaped laser beams by the rotary laser system, at least one of the fan-shaped laser beams being tilted, a step of receiving the laser beams at least at three known points by the photodetection system, a step of obtaining elevation angles with respect to the rotary laser system based on photodetection signals which are formed when the photodetector receives the laser beam, and a step of measuring an installing position of the rotary laser system based on elevation angles and position data at the three known points.
Abstract:
A decorative device to simulate a snowfield in a decorative winter scene. In one embodiment, the decorative device is comprised of white pigmented, silicone rubber elements having rounded edges and molded generally to resemble a snowfield. The decorative device can be applied to a structure in a decorative winter scene or it can also be applied to a surface surrounding a structure in a decorative winter scene. A method of transforming a decorative season inspecific model for use in a winter theme decorative scene is provided.
Abstract:
Underwater melt pelletizer dies which have a highly thermally conductive pathway from their heating source to the vicinity of the polymer exit end of their die holes and have a thermally insulating material at that end of their die holes have improved operability and can pelletize thermoplastics which are otherwise difficult or impossible to pelletize with such an apparatus.
Abstract:
Apparatus (1) for testing items of metal such as jewelry comprises a housing (3) which is closed at one end (3a) and partly open at the other end (3b). Sealed within the housing is an insert comprising a reservoir (5) containing a testing chemical and an applicator (7). The applicator extends into the reservoir (5) and projects from the housing through its partly open end (3b). The outer surface of the applicator (7) projecting from the housing forms a tip which is used to apply the testing chemical to the surface of the metal under test.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for enhancing the accuracy of the elevation coordinate in a survey that uses GPS survey measurements to determine location coordinates for a plurality of survey locations. An optimal locally-best-fitting plane is combined with a geoid model that represents a local region of the Earth, in order to decrease the inaccuracy associated with an elevation coordinate in the survey to a fraction of a decimeter.
Abstract:
A stable trans fat free emulsifier composition is provided that may have other functional ingredients incorporated to form a base for a flour-based dough preparation to hold the ingredients together. A glyceride emulsifier is heated above its melting point and blended with a non-hydrogenated vegetable oil, or a quantity of glyceride emulsifier is blended with non-hydrogenated vegetable oil and the mixture then heated to a temperature above its melting point. The ratio of emulsifier to vegetable oil is selected to cause the composition, upon cooling, to form a solid plastic mass. The hardness value of the plastic mass is within a range especially applicable to bakery dough applications.
