    Abstract: A convertible filtration system for use with cartridge filters and bag-type filters for filtering contaminated fluids comprising a filtration system housing, a base attached to the filtration system housing, and a lid mechanism for generating sealing pressure between the lid mechanism and the filtration system housing. The filtration system housing includes a basket support flange and an integral basin for accommodating both cartridge and bag-type filters. When fluid is introduced into the filtration system housing through one or more fluid inlet ports, the basket support flange and integral basin additionally serve to prevent contaminated fluids from contaminating any filtered fluids that exit the filtration system housing through one or more fluid outlet ports.

    Abstract: An endcap bypass plug is disclosed. The endcap bypass plug includes a body and a plurality of leg members. The body includes an upper surface, a lower surface and an outer side surface joining the upper surface to the lower surface. A central axis extends through an axial center of the body. The plurality of leg members are connected to and extends away from the upper surface of the body. Adjacent leg members of the plurality of leg members are spaced apart by a distance to thereby form a plurality of radial passages defining a plurality of radial fluid-flow paths there between. Each leg member of the plurality of leg members includes: a head portion having an upper surface. The head portion includes a nose portion extending radially outwardly from the head portion. The nose portion includes a ramp surface and a lower surface. The ramp surface of the nose portion is connected to the upper surface of the head portion to define an upper edge. The ramp surface of the nose portion is connected to the lower surface of the nose portion to define a lower edge. An endcap assembly is also disclosed. A filter assembly is also disclosed. A method is also disclosed.

    Abstract: An in-line or in situ filter is disclosed for filtering fluid flowing through a hydraulic system, and particularly an automotive hydraulic system. The filter has a magnetic base with a central opening at its outlet end and a seat with a central opening at its inlet. The base and the seat are joined by a cylindrical filter element made of a magnetically susceptible mesh screen material. A spring within the filter element biases a ball against the central opening of the seat normally sealing off the opening and forcing fluid to flow through the filter element to be filtered before exiting through the central opening of the base. If the mesh screen becomes clogged, backpressure forces the ball away from the seat against the bias of the spring to allow fluid to bypass the filter element and flow directly through the filter. In the process, ferrous debris entrained within the fluid flow continues to be captured by attraction to the magnetic base and the magnetized filter element.

    Abstract: A filter element (10) of a filter for fluid, particularly fuel, oil, water, urea solution or air, particularly of a combustion engine, particularly of an automobile, and a method for manufacturing same are described. The filter element (10) comprises a filter medium (14) structured as a filter medium hollow body (12) and closed circumferentially at least with respect to an element axis (16). The filter medium (14) is enclosed at least partially circumferentially and at least partially axially by an electrical heating jacket (26). The filter medium (14) has, on at least one front side, an end member (32) that is connected tightly at least to the filter medium (14). After insertion of the filter medium hollow body (12) into the heating jacket (26), the front side of the filter medium hollow body (12) is provided with an end member (32).
