Abstract:
An actuator according to one embodiment of the present invention may include a fixed member and a free member. The free member is operatively engaged with the fixed member so that the free member is moveable with respect to the fixed member. The actuator also includes means for moving the free member with respect to the fixed member. An elastic element operatively associated with the free member and the fixed member is operable to store energy without a change in an overall length of the actuator.
Abstract:
A heat dissipating apparatus includes a rear cove, a fan rotatably attached to the rear cover, a slave gear secured to the fan, and a driving gear rotatably attached to the rear cover. The rear cover defines a plurality of air ventilation holes. The fan is aligned with the plurality of air ventilation holes. The driving gear meshes with the driven gear. A resilient member is secured to the driving member. The driving gear is rotatable in a first direction to deform the resilient member. The resilient member is released to rotate the driving gear in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction, and the slave gear and the fan are together rotatable in the second direction by the driving gear.
Abstract:
A system for safely and effectively winding a garage door spring features a hub assembly having a cylindrical hub with a cylindrical channel located there through. The hub assembly features a wheel gear located around the hub and a plurality of engagement prongs designed to snuggly engage a torsion spring winding cone. The hub assembly is divided into a first hub component and a second hub component. The system features a base with a semi-cylindrical notch and an arcuate lid pivotally located thereon. A plurality of support rollers are adjustably located around an inside of the notch and the lid. The hub assembly is positioned on the support rollers. A worm gear that interfaces with the wheel gear is attached to a drive shaft assembly that features a drive shaft that extends from the base for remote operation of the worm gear.
Abstract:
A spring device includes an intermittent accumulator and kinetics release trigger that gradually winds up to accumulate energy as driven by manual or other random intermittent kinetics and drives an kinetics release control to trigger off the spring to release kinetics to drive a load once the kinetics to the spring is accumulated to a preset value.
Abstract:
Drums 56 wind and unwind cables 18 connected to a passenger carriage 14 of an amusement ride 12 in response to winding and unwinding of tethers 48 about an axle 46. The tethers 48 are connected to elastic members 44 that store energy, and a lock 32 is releasable to permit the carriage 14 to travel under the force of the stored energy. The drums 56 have a diameter that is greater than a diameter of the axle, thereby providing a mechanical advantage to launch and accelerate the carriage 14 to a high velocity and/or to provide a dampening effect on the motion of the carriage. Alternative embodiments include ramps with loops, corkscrew sections, and/or inclined sections for carrying the carriage, safety cables strung through attachment members connected to the tethers, and telescopic spring devices with concentric coil springs.
Abstract:
The present invention is concerns with a spring drive used as a driving power source for a moving toy. The spring drive has a windup pinion of which at least the top of one end is formed at its rotation axis as a small diameter end having a diameter smaller than the diameter of the body thereof, and a supporting member having a supporting surface for supporting the windup pinion at the small diameter end. The windup pinion is freely rotatively supported at its small diameter end on the supporting surface of the supporting member, the friction force acting against the rotation of the pinion, is decreased.
Abstract:
A motor operated mechanism for transferring energy to the energy storing mechanism of a circuit breaker of the type which utilizes the energy to close the primary contacts of the circuit breaker. The mechanism includes a motor for driving a cam and follower assembly. The cam and follower assembly cooperate with a linkage to supply rotational motion of an energy delivery shaft, wherein the energy delivery shaft is coupled to the energy storing mechanism of the circuit breaker.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a spring drive for use in a moving toy which comprises a windup pinion 5, a spring windup shaft 7 having a gear 6 meshing with the pinion 5, a large gear 8 provided around the spring windup shaft 7, a drive pinion 9 always meshing with the large gear 8, and a spur gear 20 integrally formed with the drive pinion 9, wherein a stepped portion 10 having a larger diameter than that of the gear 6 is formed between the gear 6 of the spring windup shaft and the large gear 8, and one end of the windup pinion 5 is supported by the stepped portion 10 and the spur gear 20 integrally formed with the drive pinion 9, thereby omitting an intermediate partition frame.
Abstract:
A spring-powered actuator especially for operating devices such as fire and/or smoke dampers, doors, hatches, vents, traps, valves and other devices having components which are movable between at least two positions. The spring-powered actuator of the invention comprises a longitudinally-displaceable re-wind screw which is rotatable to recharge the spring of the actuator, and a tilting element on the screw which is mounted for tilting movement with respect to the screw axis to allow longitudinal movement of the re-wind screw so as to permit rapid and reliable release of energy stored in the spring. When used in a combination fire and smoke damper, it thus opens or closes the blades of the latter.
Abstract:
An improved spring-wound prime mover provides a housing cavity that can automatically fix one end of a spring upon insertion. The gear train includes individual gears that automatically provide a first gear ratio for storing energy and a second gear ratio for releasing energy. The prime mover is assembled with a friction fitting arrangement to simplify manufacturing.
