Abstract: An instrumentation analysis system processes data streams by executing instructions specified using a data stream language program. The data stream language allows users to specify a search condition using a find block for identifying the set of data streams processed by the data stream language program. The set of identified data streams may change dynamically. The data stream language allows users to group data streams into sets of data streams based on distinct values of one or more metadata attributes associated with the input data streams. The data stream language allows users to specify a threshold block for determining whether data values of input data streams are outside boundaries specified using low/high thresholds. The elements of the set of data streams input to the threshold block can dynamically change. The low/high threshold values can be specified as data streams and can dynamically change.

Abstract: A data processing device provided with an error detection unit includes a processor arranged to support execution of an operation including a first sequence of instructions and execution of a second sequence of instructions implementing the operation, the first and second sequences of instructions generating, when in use, a first result and a second result, respectively. Configurable circuitry is also provided and arranged to support a repository to receive the first result and the second result following generation thereof. The configurable circuitry is configured as a function comparator unit arranged to compare the first and second results for consistency and to control further execution of the first implementation and the second implementation in response to a result of the comparison.

Abstract: A massively parallel real-time computing system receives input data events across many compute nodes, each with a processing algorithm in its processing pipeline. An Event Manager is placed before the algorithm processing pipelines, receives metadata about each incoming event, and collects and organizes it in a database. A fast histogram compares the metadata about each event to that of all the other events, in a processing interval. For sufficiently matching metadata, the events are forwarded to the processing nodes as “regular” events for processing. If the metadata for a processing interval does not match sufficiently, the histogram decides which events are the “correct” events and which events are “incorrect.” The “correct” events are sent on for processing and the “incorrect” events are combined with the “correct” metadata and sent back to the processing nodes to supplement or modify their incoming data to match the other nodes' expectations.

Abstract: A database recovery and index rebuilding system involves at least one processor coupled to memory, storage, a database, and sets of image copies and post-backup updates. When database reconstruction is required, the processor will i) access the image copies; ii) access post-backup updates to be re-applied; iii) without regard to “ii)”, read data pages to be recovered into objects; iv) concurrently with “iii)”, retrieve and sort log records from the post-backup updates; v) as the data pages to be recovered are read in “iii)”, apply the sorted log records; vi) as “e)” completes and concurrently with “v)”, extract and sort index keys; vii) concurrently with “vi)” and on an individual recovered page basis, write the recovered data pages into the database; viii) when all index keys have been extracted and sorted, initiate database index rebuilds; and ix) when rebuilt, store the rebuilt indexes without regard to whether “vii)” has completed.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing device receives a request from a client device to view one or more entities of a virtualization environment. Based on the received request, the computing device accesses an entity-relationship graph that corresponds to entities of the virtualization environment. Each of the entities is represented by an entity-type node in the entity-relationship graph, and relationships between the entities are represented by edges between the entity-type nodes. The computing device creates a user interface to manage the one or more entities, and the computing device sends information to the client device to display the user interface.

Abstract: In particular embodiments, a system for managing a virtualization environment includes host machines, each of the host machines including a hypervisor, user virtual machines (UVMs) and a virtual machine controller. The virtualization environment also includes virtual disks comprising a plurality of storage devices, and being accessible by the virtual machine controllers. The virtual machine controllers conduct I/O transactions with the virtual disks. The system stores an entity-relationship graph representing elements in the virtualization environment. Each of the elements is represented by an entity-type node in the entity-relationship graph, and relationships between the elements are represented by edges between the nodes.

Abstract: A data storage management approach is disclosed that performs backup operations flexibly, based on a dynamic scheme of monitoring block changes occurring in production data. The illustrative system monitors block changes based on certain block-change thresholds and triggers block-level backups of the changed blocks when a threshold is passed. Block changes may be monitored in reference to particular files based on a reverse lookup mechanism. The illustrative system also collects and stores historical information on block changes, which may be used for reporting and predictive analysis.
