A communication connection is established with respect to a computer so as to operate as a single-function printer when a connection with the computer is detected in a state where a communication connection with a scanner is not established, and the communication connection is established with respect to the computer so as to operate as a multi-function printer when the connection with the computer is detected in a state where the communication connection with the scanner is established. When a connection with the scanner is detected in a state where the communication connection is established with respect to the computer as the single-function printer, then in a case where the user gives permission, a temporary restart takes place and the communication connection is reestablished as the multi-function printer, and in a case where the user does not give permission, the communication connection with the computer is maintained without alteration.

A user interface device for receiving a user instruction includes a receiver that receives a signal by wireless communication from a mobile device, one or more detectors disposed in predetermined positions with respect to the receiver and detect one or more strengths of the signal, and a controller that acquires a strength of the signal received by the receiver and at least one of the strengths of the signal detected by the one or more detectors, and identifies as the user instruction an instruction associated with a difference between the acquired strengths of the signal.

The present disclosure relates to a an electronic device such as a digital camera 300 that includes a deletion mode whereby a camera/electronic device user can delete captured images or data files that have already been transferred in order to make room in the electronic device or digital camera memory for capturing further images. In one embodiment a digital camera keep track of which images have already been transferred to an external storage device and presents those to the user as potential images to be deleted. In another embodiment, the user is presented with a “delete all transferred images” which when selected deletes all the captured images that have already been transferred. In still another embodiment, a deletion criteria is used to prioritize which images are deleted first.

An information providing device is capable of communicating with an image forming device, a data managing device, and a transmission terminal. The information providing device includes a storage unit; a communication unit that transmits a forming instruction to instruct the image forming device to perform image forming, and receives, from the image forming device, storage location information indicating the data managing device that stores data obtained by image forming by the image forming device and indicating a storage location in the data managing device; and a storage location managing unit that generates, in the storage unit, management information in which identification information of the image data is associated with the storage location information. The communication unit receives the data saved in the storage location indicated by the storage location information from the data managing device and transmits the received data to the transmission terminal.

There is provided an image output apparatus characterized by comprising: first communication control means for controlling communication using a first protocol; second communication control means for controlling communication relating to an image using a second protocol; image output means for executing image outputprocessing based on an image supplied under the communication control by the second communication control means; and link control means for performing control relating to disconnection of the communication by each of the first communication control means and the second communication control means. When disconnection of the communication by the first communication control means is detected, the link control means holds disconnection processing of the communication by the second communication control means based on a state of the communication control relating to the image by the second communication control means.

An image input system capable of applying to a system using a cloud computing and of selecting the optimal transmission route. The image input system comprises a server, an information processing apparatus that communicates with the server via the Internet, and image input apparatuses communicate with the information processing apparatus via a local network and communicate with the server via the Internet. The server acquires the transmission capacity information of the image input apparatuses searched, selects a first route that directly transmit to the server or a second route that transmit to the server via the image processing apparatus based on the transmission capacity information, and transmits a job message to the information processing apparatus. The information processing apparatus transmits the job message to the image input apparatus selected. Each of the image input apparatuses generates the image information and transmits it to the server.
