An image forming apparatus having an image forming unit and a fixing unit. The image forming unit may form an image on a sheet based on image data by using a recording agent. The fixing unit may fix the recording agent on the sheet. The image forming apparatus may include a control unit to receive the image data and transmit the received image data to the image forming unit and a determination unit to determine a type of an interface via which the image data has been received. The control unit additionally determines whether to start raising a temperature of the fixing unit before the image data becomes ready to be transmitted to the image forming unit based on the type of the interface determined by the determination unit.

This invention completes an authentication procedure early when it is ready to directly communicate with a printer, and serves as a user interface device of a direct print system. To this end, when a digital camera DSC is ready to directly communicate with a printer, and receives from the printer an inquiry about objects stored and held by the camera, it assigns an object which contains a word serving as authentication information of those stored and held in the DSC to a first handler (S52), assigns other objects (image data and the like) to subsequent handlers (S53), and sends that assignment result to the printer (S54).

A method and device for managing images stored in a plurality of storage media by using a display unit included in an image forming apparatus to prints the images are provided. The method includes: displaying identification names of a plurality of storage media included in or connected to the image forming apparatus; and linking information on images stored in the plurality of storage media with the identification names of the plurality of storage media and displaying the information on images stored in the plurality of storage media. Accordingly, the identification names of the plurality of storage media included in or connected to the image forming apparatus are displayed by linking information on images with the identification names in order to manage the images stored in the storage media. Therefore, a user can conveniently and promptly recognize and manage the storage media and the images stored in the storage media. In addition, since the plurality of storage media are controlled concurrently, image data can be promptly read from or written to the storage media, and data transfer speed between the storage media can be increased.

To provide an image processing system, an image processing apparatus, and an image processing method capable of realizing the optimum color matching between apparatuses according to various situations (the use case or the type of image) in printing one job in a plurality of image forming apparatuses. In the present invention, MFP101 acquires a color reproduction range for each of MFP102 and LBP103 (Step S903), and computes logical AND of the plurality of acquired color reproduction ranges (Step S904). Next, in accordance with the use case and the attribute of an image, MFP101 determines whether the color reproduction range in printing the image is set to the logical AND of the color reproduction ranges or to an expanded area of the logical AND of the color reproduction ranges (steps S905 to S908). Then, MFP101 adds the determined color reproduction range to the image and transmits this to MFP102, LBP103 (S909).
