Abstract:
A printing system in which a DSC and a PD printer are directly connected to each other via a general interface, image data is transmitted from the DSC to the PD printer, and the data is printed, wherein the number of offset bytes and a data amount of the image data are designated from a print controller to a storage controller to specify partial image data, the storage controller reads the partial image data from the storage device of the DSC based on the specification, the partial image data is supplied to a print controller of the PD printer, and printing is performed.
Abstract:
A digital media player is disclosed. The digital media player can permit one or a group of users to play digital media in a convenient and user-friendly manner. Typically, a memory card stores the digital media to be played by the digital media player. After the memory card is coupled to the digital media player, the digital media player can operate to play (e.g., view) or manipulate (e.g., zoom, rotate, delete, etc.) digital media. The digital media player can also operate to archive the digital media in a reduced resolution format. The reduced resolution format is adequate for an intended output device, yet has a substantially reduced file size.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are disclosed for sending and receiving data such as photographic or other color images. The apparatus includes a housing and a data entry module such as a number were keypad for dialing. It also includes a recording mechanism, for example a color printer for recording data received onto the fixed medium, for example to produce color photographs.
Abstract:
High performance digital cameras today are increasingly directed towards parallelism in the snap and store of digital photos. As the trend towards faster snap rates continues so too is the ability to store these photos concurrently. Although, these simultaneous occurrences of snap and store are visited previously, a permanent, economical and more viable technology to view/display and store these photos has not been previously investigated. Here, I present a technology which get digital image files directly from a digital camera or memory card drive for the purpose of viewing/displaying and storing these photos, which is permanent, economical and viable innovation. The average person spends couple of hundreds of dollars to print photos every year; this innovation will only require a one time investment in ones life time and will not compromise spending hard earned money on photo printing anymore. With this innovation, the average person will most likely print less than 5 percent of his/her lifetime photo shots. That is a 95 percent savings, not to mention papers and ink saved.
Abstract:
A communication device for interconnecting a digital camera to a communication network for downloading data to a remote computer. The device has a network communication port for establishing communication with a network via a pre-defined protocol and communication mode, and has a camera communication port such as a serial, parallel, SCSI, USB or Irda-port that imitates the back end application of a PC, for connection to a digital camera for sending and receiving data to and from the camera. The camera communication port is also used for input of programming and setup data to the communication device from a PC. The device can be programmed to operate on the data directly, such as in the case of data for storage or operational direction, and/or direct the data to the camera. The device may also have a Smart card socket into which a user can insert a card to input data, such as user and camera I.D., user authorization, image marking, camera operational parameters, remote computer/destination address, etc. The device can be programmed to perform encryption, authentication, watermarking and fingerprinting procedures, as well as structuring the data for transmission over a particular network, and to automatically perform operations, such as at specific times or in response to data input.
Abstract:
A scanning apparatus and a method thereof include a scanning unit scanning a document and outputting a scanned result, at least one external storage unit detachably attached to the apparatus, at least one internal storage unit, and a controller detecting an attachment state of the external storage unit and storing the scanned result in one of the external storage unit and the internal storage unit according to the attachment state of the external storage unit. The scanning unit of the scanning apparatus is combined with a user scanning unit and a user printing unit into a combination apparatus, and the scanned result is printed in a printing apparatus spaced-apart from the scanning apparatus by a distance, thereby removing cables between the scanning or printing apparatus and a personal computer. Regardless of an attachment state of the external storage unit, the document is scanned in the real time, and the scanning apparatus is commonly used with a plurality of personal computers which are not connected to the scanning apparatus.
Abstract:
An image inputting apparatus includes an example to be in combination with an information processing system, which generally comprises an image reading unit and a PC card unit operatively connected to the image reading unit and the information processing system. The image reading unit comprises an image reading section for optically reading out an image on a medium to be read and converting a read-out image into an electric signal and a movement measuring section for measuring a moving amount of the image reading section moving on the medium, and the PC card unit comprises an image signal processing section for processing the analog image signal from the image reading section, a read-out control section for performing a driving control of the image reading section in accordance with the moving amount from the movement measuring section and a PC card interface (I/F) section operatively connected to the read-out control section and the external information processing system so as to perform interruption and access to the information processing system. The PC card unit has a structure in shape of card capable of being inserted into a predetermined portion of the information processing system in a manner such that, when the PC card unit is inserted thereinto, the image reading unit is positioned outside the information processing system.
