Abstract: A method, a computer program product, and a system are disclosed to compensate for bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF). The method including selecting an area of a landscape to be imaged; obtaining a plurality of aerial images of the selected area from a sensor or camera, wherein each of the plurality of aerial images comprises a plurality of pixels; combining the plurality of pixels from each of the plurality of images to form a plurality of superpixels, each of the plurality of superpixels comprising the plurality of pixels from one or more of the plurality of aerial images, and wherein each of the superpixels has a same resolution; combining the plurality of the superpixels into a single image, which simulates a satellite image; and performing a BRDF correction on one more of the obtained aerial images to adjust and/or change an intensity of the plurality of pixels.

Abstract: A method, computer readable medium, and system are disclosed of enhancing cell images for analysis. The method includes performing a multi-thresholding process on a cell image to generate a plurality of images of the cell image; smoothing each component within each of the plurality of images; merging the smoothed components into a merger layer; classifying each of the components of the merged layer into convex cell regions and concave cell regions; combining the concave cell regions with a cell boundary for each of the corresponding concave cell regions to generate a smoothed shape profile for each of the concave cell regions; and generating an output image by combining the convex cell regions with the concave cell regions with smoothed shape profiles.

Abstract: An improved method and related apparatus for detecting bacteria viability and drug effects using metabolic monitoring. A fluorescent material which is quenched by oxygen is co-localized with the target bacteria, and fluorescence signal is detected at the co-localized places. In some embodiments, the fluorescent material is a fluorescent nanoparticle mixed with the target bacteria in the sample, and co-localization is enhanced using centrifugation, electrophoresis, microflow path modified with antibodies, magnetic force, etc. In some other embodiments, the fluorescent material is a fluorescent film or 3-D matrix immobilized in the bacterial culture chamber, and bacteria in the sample is gathered into localized regions of the bacteria culture chamber where the fluorescent film or 3-D matrix is present by ways of centrifugation, electrophoresis or microflow path. Plasmonic nanoparticles with a metal core and plasmonic film with a metal film may be used as the fluorescent nanoparticles and fluorescent film.

Abstract: A method for image processing includes obtaining a mask of a stroke from an image and identifying a plurality of cross edges for the stroke based on the mask and a reference line. The plurality of cross edges includes a group of adjacent cross edges that intersect the reference line. The method further includes (a) calculating a first vector based on positions of at least two of the cross edges in the group, (b) expanding the group, based on the first vector, to include cross edges adjacent to the group that do not intersect the reference line, (c) calculating a second vector based on positions of at least two of the cross edges in the expanded group, and (d) expanding the expanded group, based on the second vector, to include a second group of adjacent cross edges nearby the expanded group that do not intersect the reference line.
