Abstract:
A diaphragm air pump comprises a pump chamber, a diaphragm and one or more piezoelectric beams or bimorphs. Fluid flows into the pump chamber and then flows out of it, the diaphragm is provided within the pump chamber, and one or more central openings are formed in the diaphragm. One or more central check valves are provided in the central openings. The diaphragm is just bonded with piezoelectric beams, not fixed to the lower housing of the pump chamber in order to get large displacement. With the provided diaphragm air pump, it is possible to actively adjust the air quantity according to the requirement for fuel cell or a part-to-be-cooled, and it is also possible to reduce noise and power consumption compared with a conventional fan type cooler or air pumps.
Abstract:
A micromachined fluid handling device having improved properties. The valve is made of reinforced parylene. A heater heats a fluid to expand the fluid. The heater is formed on unsupported silicon nitride to reduce the power. The device can be used to form a valve or a pump. Another embodiment forms a composite silicone/parylene membrane. Another feature uses a valve seat that has concentric grooves for better sealing operation.
Abstract:
A method of making a mold directly from the object to be molded is disclosed. The object is placed within a walled enclosure having a closed bottom and open top. A plurality of elongated metal rod elements is vertically introduced and packed into the enclosure in vertical contact with said object and side by side contact with one another. An infiltration agent, such as a liquid resin or metal, is introduced over the elongated metal rod elements and allow to permeate into the spaces between the rod elements. The mass consisting of the liquid infiltration agent and the elongated metal elements is allowed to solidify into a mold which is removed from the object.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides methods and apparatuses of a highly sensitive and reliable IoT location tracking device in a form factor of a vehicle taillight. The tracking device replaces the existing taillight and comprises custom-designed GPS and Cellular antennae that are specially integrated with a novel dual-PCBA structure and an anti-theft tactile switch detection mechanism. The purposes of the new methods and apparatuses are to achieve the following: (1) improved reliability of signal reception and transmission with taillight integration; (2) improved electronic shielding of the processor board and PCB (printed circuit board) assembly; (3) high sensitivity of the new GPS and cellular antennae geometry and dimension design; (4) novel anti-theft security and better vehicle tracking management.
Abstract:
The invention provides seminal computational approaches utilizing data from non-rare cells to detect rare cells, such as circulating tumor cells (CTCs). The invention is applicable at two distinct stages of CTC detection; the first being to make decisions about data collection parameters and the second being to make decisions during data reduction and analysis. Additionally, the invention utilizes both one and multi-dimensional parameterized data in a decision making process.

Abstract:
Multiplexed analysis of molecular structures of samples. A plurality of sample wells is arranged on a substrate. A plurality of electrodes is fabricated on a first side of the substrate. The electrodes are disposed on the side of the substrate exposed to the sample wells. The electrodes include working electrodes, counter electrodes, and optionally include reference electrodes. At least two of the sample wells includes a plurality of working electrodes. The plurality of electrodes is configured to allow electrochemical analysis of the associated sample wells in a multiplexed fashion. The plurality of electrodes is electrically coupled to an interface to a sample analysis system. The interface to the sample analysis system can include contacts or connections. The sample analysis system controls a signal to the electrodes in a multiplexed fashion and performs the electrochemical analysis.
Abstract:
A system for transmitting information as frames in digital format between users on a network using a single frequency and TDMA and/or CDMA communications. Broadcasting, multicasting and unicasting are provided, and communications may be part of a downlink and/or an uplink signaling scheme that allows user-user and user-central station communication. A synchronization segment or pre-amble for a frame may include identification of the source and/or the intended recipient. Walsh, Haar, Rademacher coding of selected frame components, among others, can be incorporated. Reed Solomon encoding, signal interleaving and intra-leaving, trellis encoding and turbo encoding are used for error detection and correction. The system provides two-way communication with the Internet and/or with a cellular network and/or for smaller networks of users.

A micromachined membrane particle filter is formed by making holes in a silicon derivative overlayer and coating over the holes with Parylene.
Abstract:
A micromachined, high Reynolds number, sub-millisecond liquid mixer for the study of chemical reaction kinetics. This bulk micromachined silicon mixer is capable of initiating and quenching chemical reactions in intervals as short as 100 .mu.s. The mixer chip contains two tee mixers connected by one channel which serves as a reaction chamber. Each tee mixer consists of opposing channels where liquids meet head-on and exit into a third channel forming the base of a "T".
