Abstract:
The present invention discloses a passive trainer for incontinence treatment and rehabilitation. The trainer comprises an elongated effecter configured for being reversibly introduced entirely into the rectum via the anus; or into the vagina of a human patient; and, a stopper coupled to said effecter, said stopper being adapted to remain external and adjacent to said anus, for preventing slippage of said effecter deeper into said rectum or said vagina; wherein the treatment and rehabilitation are obtained passively without any application of external forces. The present invention further discloses a method of rehabilitating and treating incontinence.
Abstract:
The use of elastomeric gloves, slippers, finger and toe covers for the cleaning, debriding and application of medicines by utilizing the repeated self-contained flushing and pumping caused by normal appendage motion and elastomeric distortion and equalization either alone or in tandem with the auxiliary agitation from an external ultrasonic source if necessary.
Abstract:
A system for regulating a core body temperature of a person includes a pressure applicator configured to apply negative or cyclical positive pressure to a portion of the person to vasodilate blood vessels of the person within the portion, a heating device configured to supply heat to the portion of the person, and a control apparatus. The control apparatus is coupled to the heating device and includes a controller configured to vary the amount of heat supplied by the heating device. The amount of heat supplied by the heating device is varied in response to a difference in temperature between a preset temperature programmed into the controller and an actual core body temperature of the patient received by the controller from a temperature sensor on the person such that the controller maintains the actual core body temperature of the person at substantially the preset temperature.
Abstract:
A skin cleanser includes a surface, such as a silicone surface, with at least one textured portion for transmitting vibrational tapping to the skin. The skin cleanser includes at least one oscillating motor for generating the tapping motion to the skin. The textured portion includes touch-points or a wave that transmit the tapping motion to skin in contact with the textured portions. The touch-points may include thicker and thinner formations of the touch-points to provide firmer or softer vibrations to the skin. The touch-points are within about 0.5 to 2.5 mm in diameter. One configuration includes multiple oscillating motors configured to provide different vibration frequencies at around 50-300 Hertz and operable simultaneously.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are footwear and systems for reducing foot pain or discomfort. In one aspect, an article of footwear encompasses an upper; a sole, at least one vibration device disposed within the upper, the vibration device comprising at least one vibrational element capable of delivering vibrations to a user of the footwear; a controller communicatively connected to the vibration device and configured to control operation of the one or more vibration devices based on instructions regarding operation of the vibration device; and a control unit communicatively connected to the controller and configured to transmit instructions regarding the operation of the vibration device to the controller. Also disclosed herein are methods for reducing pain and discomfort using the disclosed footwear, devices and systems.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a compression garment can include one or more of a flex frame, a shape memory material, a backing, and a control module. In some variations, the flex frame can include a set of support regions, a set of cutout regions, a set of bridges, one or more terminals, and one or more rotation points. In some variations, the compression garment 100 can further include a fabric sleeve, one or more fasteners, a power module, and/or any other suitable component. The compression garment functions as a compression device (e.g., to improve circulation, enhance muscle recovery, etc.), and can additionally or alternatively function as a passive compression device, a heating and/or cooling device, or perform any other suitable functionality.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a massage device for alleviating rhinitis, which can alleviate rhinitis symptoms by massaging both sides of the nose using low-frequency waves, ultrasonic waves, high-frequency waves, thermotherapeutic stimulation, or vibration stimulation, and which is fabricated in a compact size and thus is easy to carry and to use.
Abstract:
The present invention is an apparatus for employing aromatherapy and binaural sounds for inducing a state of relaxation in a user who may be anxious, upset, or experiencing sleeping difficulties. The apparatus comprises a shape memory foam pillow, a pair of stereo speakers, an aromatherapy diffuser, a pillowcase comprised of heat-transfer fabric, an optional vibrating device, a canopy and a housing to support these elements. The user connects a smartphone or digital audio device to the speakers, activates the aromatherapy diffuser and the vibrating device, and lays his or her head down on the pillow beneath the canopy. Ideally, the smartphone or music device should have a meditation or binaural sound application, which would be tuned to a specific beat frequency, such as 10 Hertz. The combined action of essential oil vapors and binaural sounds should enable the user to relax or sleep more soundly.
Abstract:
A hot stone therapy and acupressure roller including a specially designed rod where hollow, cylindrical stones, along with acupressure pins, are spaced along the rod. As the rod is applied to the body, the attached stones roll and acupressure may be applied. Targeted acupressure can be applied on either side of the rod, and the acupressure pins serve to bold the cylindrical stones and spacers in place. The stones can be inserted onto the rod or used individually. The stones can be used to conduct a cold and/or hot stone massage. Additionally, each end of the rod is shaped for use as a massage tool. When using either end of the rod as a massage tool, the acupressure pins serve to improve grip and increase leverage.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a device which can generate commands for controlling a physical therapy apparatus adapted to accept external commands. The device has a base, a motion manipulation portion and a moveable portion of substantially the same shape and dimensions as the portion of the physical therapy apparatus which interacts with at least one part of the body of a patient. The device also includes conversion means for converting stored time-dependent output signals to a series of command signals and means for transmitting the command signals to the physical therapy apparatus. The command signals are produced by the movements of the moveable portion, and, when transmitted to the physical therapy apparatus, can induce the physical therapy apparatus to undergo a series of motions substantially identical to those of the moveable portion.
