Abstract:
A lower limb orthotic device includes a thigh link connected to a hip link through a hip joint, a hip torque generator including a hip actuator and a first mechanical transmission mechanism interposed between the thigh link and the hip link, a shank link connected to the thigh link through a knee joint, a knee torque generator including a knee actuator and a second mechanical transmission mechanism interposed between the thigh link and the shank link, and a controller, such as for a common motor and pump connected to the hip and knee torque generators, for regulating relative positions of the various components in order to power a user through a natural walking motion, with the first and second mechanical transmission mechanisms aiding in evening out torque over the ranges of motion, while also increasing the range of motion where the torque generators can produce a non-zero torque.
Abstract:
Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for treating bronchial constriction related to asthma, anaphylaxis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The treatment comprises transmitting impulses of energy non-invasively to selected nerve fibers that are responsible for smooth muscle dilation. The transmitted energy impulses, comprising magnetic and/or electrical, mechanical and/or acoustic, and optical and/or thermal energy, stimulate the selected nerve fibers.
Abstract:
A plunger adapter and a detachable compression pad for piston driven chest compression devices optimizes the application of chest compressions to a fixed location on a patient's chest. The detachable compression pad may be removably secured to the patient above the patient's sternum to ensure that the compression pressure from the piston through the piston adapter is applied to a fixed location on the patient's chest. As the plunger and plunger adapter retract from the chest, the compression pad remains fixed to the patient's chest, and as the plunger and plunger adapter extend from the chest compression unit for subsequent compression strokes, the distal end of the plunger adapter reengages the compression pad to apply compression to a fixed location on the patient's chest.
Abstract:
A motorized exoskeleton device comprising: at least two segments, where one segment is superior to the other, the exoskeleton device configured to be coupled to a lower extremity of a user. The exoskeleton device further comprising at least two motorized joints for connecting the at least two segments and for providing relative angular movement between the at least two segments; and the motors coupled to the same superior segment of the exoskeleton device.
Abstract:
A cardio pulmonary CPR device and method provides enhanced circulation by an inventive sequence of states of chest compression and airway valve opening and closure. The embodiments of the invention produce enhanced circulation during cardiac arrest, while maintaining a degree of ventilation to the patient, including oxygen delivery in some embodiments. Some embodiments include mechanical compression units. Other embodiments include a compression sensor to detect manually delivered compressions.
Abstract:
A hand rehabilitation device (10, 10′), used in rehabilitation therapies of the motility and functionality of metacarpus-phalanx, proximal interphalanx and distal interphalanx joints, injured or reduced subsequent to trauma or the like, in the post-surgery period, or in the case of hand paresis or paralysis subsequent to central nervous system diseases, spinal cord injuries, peripheral neuropathies or the like and/or when the hand joint movements are to be improved in association with the physiotherapist's treatment during rehabilitation sessions, said device flexible, modular, light and comprising a brace (17, 90) fitted to partially cover the patient's hand (19) and forearm (13), the device comprising, all placed on the back of the hand with the palm totally free, flexible rods (36, 58, 104) for a passive and assisted active, concurrent and/or selective, bending/extension of the five fingers according to a complete bending movement or to different angular positions, grasping of objects and/or simulation of daily living activity, with exercises, sequences and/or combinations of movements freely settable by the operator, elements for the sliding and the supporting of the flexible rods during bending/extension of the fingers, “finger gloves” (46) and (94, 98) provided with thimbles (50, 96, 100), fixed rods (44) or plates (102) stabilised to thimbles and hinged to one end of the flexible rods (36, 58, 104) respectively by means of a hinge (43) and a quick coupling mechanism defining an articulated joint, a movement/command and control unit (12, 116) integral to the brace or remotely located relative to the same and provided with five actuating means for moving the flexible rods and further comprising means for adjusting the tension of said rods, means for adjusting and adapting the rehabilitation device to the hand's anatomical features and a control and management software provided with a graphical interface for displaying simulations of the movement to make or being made and to produce sound and visual feedbacks associated to the finger movements.
Abstract:
A hip traction device, system, and associated methods are disclosed. Such a device may include a base having a proximal end and a distal end, a guide coupled to the base, a carrier configured to move along the guide upon receiving a force from a tensioner to move the carrier toward the distal end of the base, causing a leg to be put in tension, and a single body coupling mechanism either removably attachable or permanently attached to the carrier and configured to securely attach to a lower portion of a leg, such that the portion of the leg moves with the carrier during operation of the tensioner.
Abstract:
A body massage apparatus is provided with a housing. A massage unit is provided in the housing. A pair of laterally spaced apart air bladders is provided on the housing with the massage unit oriented between the air bladders.
Abstract:
A robot rehabilitation device, especially suitable for being used in motor rehabilitation activities on patients suffering from neurological and/or orthopaedic damages of a various nature as well as motor rehabilitation on patients with a hip or knee prosthesis, including a portal structure fixed to a base structure, a motor-driven belt suitable for allowing patient to walk, a bodice basically provided with four straps or braces that can be hooked to the device structure and worn by the patient, for the support thereof, a first exoskeleton and a second exoskeleton articulated and independent for the passive and assisted movement of the lower limbs of the patient, the exoskeletons including automatic actuation and movement elements, with the rehabilitation device that further includes a device for lifting the patient for the automatic and continuous control of the amount of weight of the same to be used in the therapy.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for mobilizing and rehabilitating an upper limb of a patient and a method of assembling such a device, It may be made up by assembling at least two adjacent elements chosen from a set comprising a shoulder module (105) (ShouldeRO), an arm module (205) (ROThum), an elbow module (305) (elBOT), a forearm module (405) (ROTuln), a wrist module (505) (wristlC), a dorsal holding device (107), an elbow shell CC and a hand shell (514). Each of the elements (105; 205; 305; 405; 505; 107: CC; 514) of the set is designed to be secured to at least one other adjacent element (105; 205; 305; 405; 505; 107; CC; 514) of the set, at least one assembly of a first element with a second element being achievable by engaging a male piece (600) secured to the first element in a female piece (610) secured to the second element in a direction of engagement which is not subjected to any load when the device is in operation, and by locking said male piece (600) in said female piece (610) using means that can be unlocked under the effect of a pull in a direction opposite to said direction of engagement
