Abstract:
The invention relates to an arrangement in connection with a massaging apparatus, and a massaging apparatus. The massaging apparatus includes a treatment head (2), a low-pressure chamber (6) arranged at the treatment head, element (5) for producing low pressure in the low-pressure chamber, and a nozzle part (3), one end of which is arranged to be in connection with the low-pressure chamber and the other end of which is arranged to be pressed against a skin tissue to direct low-pressure suction to the skin tissue, thus producing a bulge in the skin tissue. The nozzle part (3) is arranged to form a suction opening with two main axes, which are substantially perpendicular to one another and are of the same or a different length. The arrangement includes a sealing part (4) made of a flexible material and arranged to adapt to the shape of the suction opening formed by the nozzle part and to seal the gap between the end of the nozzle part and the skin tissue when the end of the nozzle part is pressed against the skin tissue. The surface of the sealing part (4) to be pressed against the skin tissue is arranged to be concave in the direction of at least one of the main axes of the suction opening formed by the nozzle part (3).
Abstract:
An inflatable garment for applying to parts of the body such as the calf of the leg as a means of enhancing blood circulation in the body. The garment is of universal application in the sense that it comprises two wrap halves (8, 9) provided with inflatable bladders (4, 5, 6). The two wrap halves can be selectively coupled together in such a way as to provide a variable overall length of garment wrap to suit calf's of differing size while at the same time maintaining the integrity of fluid communication between the bladders on the respective wrap halves.
Abstract:
A handle grip for ambulatory aid appliances has a soft top portion and a rigid body portion. The handle grips may be attached to a wheeled ambulatory aid appliance such as a rolling walker, wheelchair, stroller and the like in a selected position to provide a comfortable and secure hand grip to a user of the ambulatory aid.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for tending human tissue, the method including the steps of having a body part of a person covered with watertight foil; having the body part wrapped in an elastic element, the elastic element enveloping the watertight foil, and the elastic element being under strain and thereby compressing tissue of the body part; and instructing the person to exercise.
Abstract:
A massaging vibrator includes a massage assembly provided with a contact member, which is at least partly elastically deformable, and which can be applied directly or indirectly to the skin of a user, and which can be used in a deformed position when a stress is applied by the user. The arrangement also includes a reinforcement for the contact member at least partly embedded inside the contact member, with the reinforcement being able to deform jointly with the contact member and capable of keeping the contact member in the deformed position when the user ceases to apply the stress. The vibrator further includes at least one vibration generator, preferably directly in contact with the reinforcement within the contact member.
Abstract:
A therapeutic method and apparatus intended for enhancing blood circulation, and lymph and neural fluid flow throughout a person's body. The person is placed supinely in a comfortable and relaxed state on a support member, such as a bed which is operated by a controllable motor driven drive mechanism. The support member tilts cyclically like a seesaw to alternatively raise the person's upper torso and head about the lower extremities, and vice-versa.

Abstract:
A massage arm (1), comprising a massage element (2) for a massage unit that can be incorporated into a massage chair or similar, is hinged on at least one shaft that can be moved by a drive in the massage unit, and has an articulated connection to the massage element (2). To achieve an improved massaging action with the massage arm and the attached massage elements, it is proposed that the articulated connection comprise a ball-and-socket joint (3).
Abstract:
In a walking assistance device that includes a pelvis support member adapted to be worn around a hip of a wearer and at least one actuator having a base end mounted on the pelvis support member and a free end engaging a thigh of the wearer, the pelvis support member comprises a substantially U-shaped base portion having a relatively high rigidity and adapted to be worn around the hip of the wearer and a pair of flaps having a relatively high resilient flexibility and extending from either end of the base portion toward each other; free ends of the flaps defining a gap smaller than a width of the hip of the wearer. Therefore, the wearer can bend the flaps outward so as to define a gap wide enough to pass the hip of the wearer, and once the wearer is fit into the pelvis support member, the flaps are allowed to return to their original shape owing to their resiliency, and engage the front side part of the hip of the wearer. The base portion, on the other hand, may be given with an adequate rigidity to support the actuator without any problem.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for applying external counterpulsation to a patient, including detecting a blood-flow impedance signal, self-adaptive filter processing the detected blood-flow impedance signal, and adjusting inflation of an inflatable member based on the self-adaptive filter processing in order to optimize counterpulsation timing. The present invention further includes an external counterpulsation apparatus providing a high-frequency current source applied to the patient to produce an electrocardiographic signal and a blood flow impedance signal, as well as an amplifier-filter circuit to operably condition the electrocardiographic signal and a heart impedance signal amplifier receiving the blood flow impedance signal. A computer processes the signals and controls a fluid distribution device to distribute compressed fluid to a plurality of inflatable members based on said processed signals.
