Abstract:
The invention relates to the field of powder metallurgy, in particular to the design of autoclaves for manufacturing of composite materials by treatment of workpieces of discrete materials, mostly powders, at high pressures and temperatures. The autoclave module contains the vessel that includes hermetically sealed movable end closures, the rams restricting the axial shift of these closures, and the pressure yoke with columns and winding made of high-strength steel wire, whereby the pressure yoke is made in the form of three oval yoke sections—two lateral sections encompassing the rams, and one central section encompassing the rams and the vessel with closures, all of them equidistant from each other on the ram's length, whereby each of the lateral oval sections is made in such a way as to allow opposite shift while the central section is made in such a way as to allow shift in the direction which is perpendicular to the vessel's axis and parallel to the rams' axis, for a length ensuring free withdrawal of the rams and the end closures. The invention allows to reduce the metal consumption of the pressure module by a factor of 2 to 3 compared to the known analogs, and to enhance the reliability and the operational safety of the apparatus.
Abstract:
A hydrothermal electrolytic apparatus comprises a reaction cell for electrolyzing influent at high temperature and high pressure, wherein an overall surface area of a pair of electrodes located in the reaction cell per 1 m3 of the volume of the influent is 0.05 m2 or more. The hydrothermal electrolytic apparatus has two or more tubular reaction cells each having a metal inner wall serving as a cathode, and an anode is provided in each of the reaction cells. A hydrothermal electrolytic process comprises incorporating conductive particles into an influent to substantially increase a surface area of electrodes during hydrothermal electrolysis.
Abstract:
A platelet composition suitable for direct transfusion into a patient is provided. The platelet composition includes a preservation medium comprising plasma and a gel-forming material in a concentration relative to the plasma such that the medium is in a sufficiently fluent state at about 37° C. to allow platelets to move within the medium and is in a sufficiently gelatinous state at about 5° C. to substantially prevent platelets from moving freely within the medium; and platelets.
Abstract:
A multi-test assembly for evaluating, detecting and monitoring processes at elevated pressure is described. The Mufti-test assembly has a pressure vessel equipped with trays or plates with a multitude of individual test cells, an optional lid for sealing the cells, and a system for the detection and/or monitoring of the processes in each individual test cell, in situ. Uses of the invention are detection of solid structure formation or phase transformation in, for example, hydrocarbon systems or mixtures of hydrocarbon and water, and also in an automated test which is optimized simultaneously with regard to several test parameters in the testing of inhibitors for gas hydrate formation. The multi-test assembly has built-in systems for pressure and temperature control. The assembly may also be connected to a set-up for the automatic dosing of reagents.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for synthesis and screening of materials are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a parallel batch reactor for effecting chemical reactions includes a pressure chamber, an inlet port, two or more reaction vessels within the pressure chamber, and a reaction vessel cover. The inlet port is in fluid communication with the pressure chamber, and pressurizes the pressure chamber from an external pressure source. Each of the two or more reaction vessels are in isolatable fluid communication with the pressure chamber such that during a first pressurizing stage of operation, each of the two or more reaction vessels can be simultaneously pressurized through common fluid communication with the pressure chamber. In addition, during at least a second reaction stage of operation, each of the two or more pressurized reaction vessels can be isolated from each other by positioning the reaction vessel cover appropriately.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device for electrochemically generating one or more gases under high pressure, comprising: a container (1, 6) comprising one or more chambers (7, 8) for filling with electrolyte; a first (2, 10) and a second (2, 11) electrode over which a voltage difference can be applied in order to bring about an electrochemical generation in the container (1, 6); wherein the content of a chamber (7, 8) is in the order of magnitude of a few millilitres or less.
Abstract:

The stirred tank reactor including the fixed bed catalytic reactor apparatus comprises: an housing having an open top and open bottom portion supportably maintained with said tank, said housing having a substantially outwardly extending, horizontal baffle near its top portion said baffle having a least one perforation in its surface, and said housing having at least one perforation in the wall near its top portion; a fixed bed catalyst system supportably retained within said housing permitting both liquid and gas flow therethrough; and, an agitator shaft terminating in a turbine blade substantially adjacent the perforation in the wall of said housing, said agitator having a passageway including an opening in an upper portion thereof to the interior of an upper part of said tank and terminating in an opening adjacent the turbine blade.
Abstract:
A device in hot isostatic pressing has first, second and third pumps. The first pump is adapted to pump a cooled pressure medium emanating from a cooling loop in the pressure vessel upwardly from a first space to a second pump which is arranged in a second space located above the first space but below a load space. The second pump is arranged to pump a mixture of the cooled pressure medium and a warm pressure medium emanating from the second space upwardly through the load space. The third pump is arranged in the second space to pump a warm pressure medium emanating from this space to the second pump for pumping the warm pressure medium by the second pump.
Abstract:
A pressure-tight vessel subjected to severe thermal cycling through a temperature range including temperatures up to in excess of approximately 700° F. Unlike conventional pressure-tight vessels that are constructed of plates arranged horizontally, the vessel is built of plates that are greater than sixteen feet high. As a result, there are no circumferential seams in a critical area of the cylindrical section of the vessel, providing superior durability.
Abstract:
A reactor for two-phase reaction, in particular for urea synthesis at high pressure and temperature of the type wherein a co-current flow of a gaseous phase and a liquid phase takes place, comprises a substantially cylindrical vertical external shell (2) in which is supported a plurality of superimposed horizontal perforated plates (6a-6e) in mutually spaced relationship and at least one opening (12a-12e) for liquid flow being defined in correspondence of each of the perforated plates. Advantageously the openings (12a-12e) for liquid flow are mutually offset so as to obtain a substantially zigzag preferential flow path for the liquid phase in the reactor.
