Abstract:
An apparatus for applying granules onto an asphalt-coated sheet includes a granule applicator positioned above an asphalt-coated sheet moving in a machine direction. The granule applicator deposits granules into contact with the asphalt-coated sheet along a contact line substantially perpendicular to the machine direction, thereby defining a granule-coated sheet. A granule deflector plate engages the granule-coated sheet downstream of the contact line such that the granule deflector plate rides on the granules of the granule-coated sheet.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an adjustable film applicator which comprises an applicator body, a first knife, a second knife, a first fixing apparatus, a second fixing apparatus, a pair of first adjusting screws, and a pair of second adjusting screws. The first and second knife are adjusted to a first and second height by adjusting the first and second adjusting screws, wherein the second height is greater than the first height.

A substrate treatment apparatus includes: a substrate holding unit which horizontally holds a substrate; a substrate rotating unit which rotates the substrate held by the substrate holding unit about a vertical axis; a treatment liquid supplying unit which supplies a treatment liquid to an upper surface of the substrate held by the substrate holding unit; an opposing member to be located in opposed spaced relation to the upper surface of the substrate held by the substrate holding unit in contact with a film of the treatment liquid formed on the upper surface of the substrate so as to receive a lift force from the liquid film; a support member which supports the opposing member; and an opposing member holding mechanism which causes the support member to hold the opposing member in a vertically relatively movable manner.
Abstract:
A device for metering and/or leveling a liquid to pasty medium applied to a moving surface, the surface in the case of direct application of the medium being a paper, board or other fibrous web and in the case of indirect application being the surface of a transfer element, for example an applicator roll, which transfers the application medium to the surface of the fibrous web, including a retaining body for holding a doctor element and a pressure element, the retaining body being set against the moving surface and the pressure element pressing the top part of the doctor element against the moving surface for the purpose of metering and/or leveling the applied medium; a clamping hose to which pressure can be applied and which therefore executes a displacement travel and which, when pressurized, presses the bottom part of the doctor element against a supporting bar of the retaining body and clamps said doctor element in and, when the pressure is relieved, releases the doctor element; and an additional retaining bar to hold the clamping hose, is arranged parallel to the supporting bar and is accommodated detachably in the retaining body, and the retaining bar having at least one projection toward the supporting bar, which projection projects in a distance beyond the minimum displacement travel of the clamping hose, so that a gap remains with respect to the supporting bar.
Abstract:
A doctor bed formed as a profiled strip having a continuous groove in the axial direction in order to hold a rotatable metering rod, which can be pressed against a moving surface and which meters and/or equalizes liquid to pasty medium applied to the moving surface. The moving surface, in the case of direct application of the medium, being one side of a paper, board or other fibrous web; and in the case of indirect application, being the surface of a transfer element which transfers the application medium to the fibrous web. Also disclosed is, for the production of the doctor bed, a material or a material combination selected including in a first variant of a homogeneous mixture of 70 to 99.8% polyethylene and 0.2 to 30% by weight of a wax of animal, vegetable, mineral or synthetic origin that is solid or liquid at room temperature.
Abstract:
A treatment equipment, which is intended to be installed in connection with a moving surface. The treatment equipment includes a frame and a blade holder formed from composite material as a single piece and connected to the frame. In addition, a blade is fitted to the blade holder, the bevelled edge belonging to which is arranged to be brought into contact with the moving surface by moving the blade holder. In the blade holder, there is also a separate backing blade, which is fitted at one edge into the blade holder, the other edge extending closer than the blade holder to the said bevelled edge.
Abstract:
A support beam for a long functional unit, specifically in a paper and/or coating machine, including a long hollow body having a round or polygonal cross section and manufactured from a fiber reinforced material which was produced in a winding process, whereby the invention provides that the fiber reinforced material is one having a modulus of elasticity of >100 Gpa, and a heat expansion of null2null10null6 1/null K in its longitudinal direction, as well as a fiber orientation whereby a first fiber content of 70% to 90% is approximately parallel to the longitudinal direction and a remaining second fiber content is aligned in the circumferential direction.
Abstract:
An applicator for direct or indirect application of a liquid or pasty medium on a traveling material web includes a support beam, a mating roll opposing the support beam, and a doctor element extending across the width of the mating roll and detachably fixed on the support beam via a holder. The holder includes an actuator and a pressure apparatus operable and brought in contact (K) with the doctor element by the actuator, for pressing the doctor element on an abutment surface. The lever type pressure apparatus is disposed in a region between the mating roll and the support beam, and includes at least one elastic spring element acting directly or indirectly on the lever type pressure apparatus, against the reset force of which spring element acts the actuator upon its activation, and which spring element, upon deactivation of the actuator, lifts by its reset force the contact (K) between the pressure apparatus and the doctor element, releasing the contact (K).
Abstract:
A doctoring apparatus includes a doctor blade defining a width and thickness. A support beam supports the doctor blade. A blade mounting includes at least one clamping part for clamping the doctor blade. The clamping part provides flexible mounting of the doctor blade in a transverse direction to the doctor blade and generally rigid mounting of the doctor blade in a direction corresponding to the doctor blade width.
Abstract:
A coating mechanism for coating continuous webs of product, especially paper products, comprising a support member having a coating blade supported thereon by a clamping device, the coating blade having a coating surface and a coating edge. The coating blade and the web of product form therebetween an application slot, and the clamping device includes an expansible pressure member adapted to contain a pressure medium. A pressure chamber is installed on the support member and is tiltable about an axis disposed between the pressure member and the coating blade so as to transfer the expansion force of the pressure member to the coating blade. The pressure chamber has an opening therein and is adapted to supply a coating composition through the opening to the application slot for application by the coating blade onto the web of product.
