    Abstract: An optical sensor module and a packaging method thereof are disclosed, wherein the optical sensor module comprises a substrate having a light sensing element; and a housing made of a transparent material. The housing is connected to the substrate and covers the light sensing element. The housing has a light-receiving area facing the light sensing element, and the inner surface of the housing toward the substrate is provided with a light-shielding coating in a portion outside of the light-receiving area. In this way, optical components such as the light sensor can be effectively protected, and still retain the effect of avoiding noise light interference with the light sensor module.

    Abstract: The present application discloses a UV radiation monitoring apparatus, method, and system. The monitoring apparatus includes a case, an authenticator disposed on the case and configured to identify a user, a controller in the case coupled to the authenticator to enable a first mode for an authenticated user, a detector on the case coupled to the controller and configured to measure an intensity of ultraviolet radiation and generate ultraviolet index (UVI) value at the present time, a memory coupled to the controller and configured to store the UVI values over an exposure time added into historical UVI data for the authenticated user, and a display unit to display the UVI value at the present time and the personal health instructions on UV protection for the authenticated user. The monitoring apparatus further is configured to be paired with a mobile terminal for providing updated personal health instructions.

    Abstract: An auto-darkening filter of a welding shield has a brightness-sensing unit, an optical shutter and a processor. The brightness-sensing unit generates a first signal or a second signal. In a high-sensitivity mode, the processor controls the optical shutter to operate in a dark state or a bright state depending on intensity of the first signal being higher or lower than a threshold value. In a low-sensitivity mode, the processor controls the optical shutter to operate in the bright state when intensity of the second signal is lower than the threshold value, and automatically change to the high-sensitivity mode from the low-sensitivity mode when intensity of the second signal is higher than the threshold value.

    Abstract: Optical apparatus includes a primary radiation source, which emits first optical radiation along a first optical axis. A DOE includes at least an entrance surface, upon which the first optical radiation from the primary radiation source is incident, and an exit surface, through which one or more primary diffraction orders of the first optical radiation are emitted from the DOE. At least one secondary radiation source is configured to direct second optical radiation to impinge on the DOE along a second optical axis, which is non-parallel to the first optical axis, causing at least a part of the second optical radiation to be diffracted by the DOE such that one or more secondary diffraction orders of the second optical radiation are emitted through the entrance face of the DOE.     Abstract: A downpipe sensor detects single grains in a downpipe. A transmitting unit and a receiving unit are spaced apart across a measurement field. Light beams emitted by the transmitting unit are guided in the case of free beam path through the downpipe interior to the receiving unit and are attenuated during a passage of a grain. The receiving unit is a line element with a predefined number of receiving elements. The transmitting unit has light-emitting diodes with perforated screens and a reflector element in the form of a right triangular prism. Light is emitted from the diodes transversely to a receiving axis of the receiving unit, bundled via the perforated screens, guided into the reflector element, deflected by total reflection toward a exit surface to form a light band of parallel light beams. The light band illuminates the entire measurement field with even intensity.

    Abstract: A light sensor is provided that includes an exposed light transducer for accumulating charge in proportion to light incident thereon over an integration period; and a light-to-pulse circuit in communication with the exposed light transducer, the light-to-pulse circuit operative to output a pulse having a pulse width based on the charge accumulated by the exposed light transducer. The light-to-pulse circuit may include a one shot logic circuit that contributes to generation of the pulse. The light sensor may include an input/output pad, a capacitor provided at the input/output pad for blocking static electricity, an input low pass filter provided at the input/output pad for blocking electromagnetic interference, and/or a bandgap voltage reference circuit connected to a power source having a supply voltage level in a range of about 3.3V to about 5.0V, and for generating a set of stable reference voltages throughout the supply voltage level range.
