Abstract: A computer-based method for throttling payment card transaction processing is provided. The method uses a computer device including a processor and a memory. The method includes identifying, in the memory, a first threshold level. The method also includes transmitting a first plurality of transaction requests to a sub-processing system. The method further includes computing, by the processor, an average response time of the sub-processing system for processing the first plurality of transaction requests. The method also includes receiving a second plurality of transaction requests. The method further includes identifying one or more of the second plurality of transaction requests as failure candidates based at least in part on the average response time and the first threshold level. The method also includes failing one or more of the failure candidates.

Abstract: Complex devices, software systems, and/or networks may comprise one or more subsystems that perform periodic tasks. A first task may be assigned a first execution frequency and a second task may be assigned a second execution frequency that is not an alias of the first execution frequency (e.g., assignment of execution intervals that are non-overlapping harmonics of each other, such as non-repeating frequencies). A first resource utilization by the first task may be distinguished from a second resource utilization of the second task based upon the first resource utilization corresponding to resource utilization (e.g., network usage, processor usage, power consumption, user access, etc.) associated with the first execution frequency and the second resource utilization corresponding to resource utilization associated with the second execution frequency. Thus, resource utilization of individual tasks of various subsystems and/or networks may be determined.

Abstract: Various techniques for deferred server recovery are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a notification of a fault from a host in the computing system. The host is performing one or more computing tasks for one or more users. The method can then include determining whether recovery of the fault in the received notification is deferrable on the host. In response to determining that the fault in the received notification is deferrable, the method includes setting a time delay to perform a pending recovery operation on the host at a later time and disallowing additional assignment of computing tasks to the host.

Abstract: In general, techniques are described for organizing execution of distributed operating systems for network devices. A device comprising hardware computing nodes may be configured to perform the techniques. The hardware computing nodes may execute a protocol by which to discover a topology of the plurality of hardware computing nodes, and determine, based on the topology, a subset of the plurality of hardware computing nodes to manage execution of a distributed operating system. The determined subset of the plurality of hardware computing nodes may execute a communication bus by which to synchronize operating system state information between the subset of the plurality of hardware computing nodes. The hardware computing nodes may further execute, based on the operating system state information, the distributed operating system to provide an execution environment in which one or more applications execute.

Abstract: A method of evaluating real-time computer faults and using a fault evaluation (FE) platform is provided. The method includes ingesting log data associated with a computer system, the log data includes a plurality of fault events, a fault severity identifier associated with at least one fault event of the plurality of fault events. The method also includes selecting, from the plurality of fault events, a fault event set which corresponds to a time window and includes the at least one fault event. The method further includes generating a fault score for the at least one fault event and an aggregate fault score. The method also includes determining that the aggregate fault score exceeds a predefined threshold, and providing, to a configuration management platform, instructions to initiate a hardware component remediation process.
