Abstract: A system for use in maintaining a pipe includes a motorized apparatus including a body assembly and at least one maintenance device. The at least one maintenance device includes a sprayer, a heater, and an infrared sensor. The system includes at least one controller configured to apply the at least one coating material to the interior surface of the pipe at a work location using the sprayer, heat the interior surface of the pipe at the work location using the heater to begin a cure of the at least one coating material, generate one or more infrared images of the work location using the infrared sensor while using the heater to cure the at least one coating material, and perform a non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of the work location based on the one or more infrared images.

Abstract: The system includes a robot multi jet system having a spray section, a drier section, and a catalyst section. The drier section includes a warm air blower, the catalyst section includes a photocatalyst tank, and the spray section includes a plurality of jet extensions. A first jet extension connected to the photocatalyst tank sprays a uniform layer of a photocatalyst through a first set of jets, and a second jet extension that is mechanically connected to the drier section and in fluid communication with the warm air blower is configured to spray a gas onto an inner surface of the glass tube with a second set of jets. Both the drier section and the catalyst section are mounted on wheels to move the system on the inner surface of the glass tube. A motor is electrically connected to a battery mounted within the robot and mounted to the wheels.

Abstract: A pipeline construction usable for internally insulating a welded joint between pipes with an internal protective coating. A device for internally insulating a welded pipeline joint includes a sealing assembly including a cylindrical housing and a coaxially-fastened cylindrical working member that radially expands upon generation of excess pressure in a cavity thereof. Inside the housing are a sealing compound feed assembly, a dosing device formed by a piston assembly for sealing compound components, and a pneumatic control assembly. In the dosing device, working cavities for each component are connected to the feed assembly. The elastic working member has a conduit connected to the feed assembly for feeding sealing compound into an annular gap in a welded joint region, and a conduit for pumping air out of the gap. The pneumatic control assembly controls dosing device and feed assembly functioning and generates excess air pressure in the working member cavity.

Abstract: An automated system for performing multiple operations on one or more weld joints of a pipe string includes a main controller including a user interface; and a first robotic device that is in communication with the main controller and is configured to controllably travel inside of the pipe string and detect and uniquely identify each weld joint within the pipe string based on a vision-based weld detection module that is executed on a first onboard computer. The vision-based weld detection module provides at least one of: (1) images captured within the pipe string and (2) a live video feed within the pipe string that is displayed on the user interface for allowing a user to review and approve detection of the weld joint, whereupon once the user confirms the approval, the first robotic device automatically positions itself a predefined distance from the detected weld joint and automatically begins to perform at least one operation on the weld joint.

Abstract: A lateral applicator kit for a pipe has a first and a second application unit that are configured to apply a primer material or other substance to the exterior and interior lateral walls of a pipe. The first unit receives primer through a first supply engagement feature, which is in fluid communication with a first material reservoir internal to the first application unit and further in fluid communication with an application receptacle configured to receive, and apply primer to, the exterior lateral surface of a pipe. The application receptacle has at least one first material applicator connected across at least one first application opening through which primer is absorbed and distributed to the pipe. The application receptacle has a tapered, flexible applicator wall for adaptably accommodating a range of pipe diameters. The second unit is similarly but inversely configured to adaptably apply primer to the interior surface of a fitting.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a tool for holding a spray painting instrument, such as a painting gun for painting an internal surface of a pipe. In particular, the inventive tool is ideal for painting the interior of curves and angles in a pipe and is capable of moving through and uniformly painting up to 90 degree angles of pipes or hollow tubes. The tool has a hollow central tube for carrying a spray-painting gun and at least two projections extending outwardly from an outer surface of the hollow tube. A retracting arm assembly is provided on each projection. Each retracting arm assembly includes first and second retracting arms and a corresponding force exertion mechanism. In operation, when the tool is inserted inside the pipe, each retracting arm touches the internal surface of the pipe due to an outward force exerted thereon. The tool is movable inside the pipe and adjusts automatically to different pipe diameters. The tool can be used manually or in an automated fashion to push and pull the paint gun and paint the interior of a pipe.

The apparatus includes a cleaning tool which is caused to move in the interior of the pipeline by a flow of a fluid, the cleaning tool comprising a plurality of guide discs engaging the pipeline surface and mounted along a longitudinal axis of the cleaning tool, an anode positioned inside the cleaning tool, and an impressed current source electrically connected to the anode and the interior of the pipeline, the interior of the pipeline acting as a cathode when current is applied from the current source so that ions flow from the anode, through the fluid, to the interior of the pipeline.
