Abstract: Described herein are associative polymers capable of controlling a physical and/or chemical property of non-polar compositions and related compositions, methods and systems. Associative polymers herein described have a non-polar backbone and functional groups presented at ends of the non-polar backbone, with a number of the functional groups presented at the ends of the non-polar backbone formed by associative functional groups capable of undergoing an associative interaction with another associative functional group with an association constant (k) such that the strength of each associative interaction is less than the strength of a covalent bond between atoms and in particular less than the strength of a covalent bond between backbone atoms.

Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions containing a detergent composition and an active metal containing compound, where the detergent composition includes a quaternary ammonium salt detergent and optionally an oxygen-containing detergent, and where the active metal containing compound is in the form of a colloidal dispersion, comprising an organic phase, particles of an iron compound in its amorphous form, and at least one amphiphilic agent. These compositions may be used in fuels and provide improved engine performance when such fuels are used, specifically by reducing fuel injector fouling in the engine and/or by improving the regeneration of the engine's particulate exhaust trap.

Abstract: Fuel and lubricant compositions are provided that contain a primary low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI)-reducing additive comprising (i) an amino additive, (ii) an amine additive, (iii) a triazole additive, (iv) a benzamidinium additive, (v) a benzoxazole additive, or (vi) a N═C—X motif additive. Methods for preventing or reducing low speed pre-ignition events in spark-ignited engines using these compositions are also provided.

Abstract: An engine lubricant comprising an oil and additives and method of making and using the same. The engine lubricant is based on process of sequentially combining a specific amount isopropyl alcohol, fuel stabilizer, corn oil and motor oil to produce a lubricant that prevents phase separation. The engine lubricant may be combined with gasoline to produce a two-cycle engine fuel. Alternatively, the engine lubricant may be used to lubricate 4-cycle engines. Prevention of phase separation in the engine lubricant provides longer engine life and reduced engine wear in both two-cycle and four-cycle engines.

Abstract: The present invention relates to markers for liquids that can be used to authenticate the origin and genuineness of a liquid, preferably a bulk liquid such as fuel. For this purpose, the present invention teaches the use of a polymer capable of forming a semiconducting polymer particle (pdot) in the liquid in small amounts. The invention encompasses a liquid comprising a) a polymer that is capable of forming a semiconducting polymer particle (pdot), the concentration of the polymer being 10 ppm by weight or less, and b) an organic substance in an amount of 90% by weight or more. The invention furthermore envisages the use of such a polymer as an authenticating marker in a liquid, preferably a fuel, and a method for authenticating the genuineness and/or origin of a liquid comprising a polymer capable of forming a semiconducting polymer particle (pdot), comprising the steps i. concentrating, isolating and/or extracting the polymer capable of forming a semiconducting polymer particle (pdot); ii. aggregating the polymer or the polymer obtained in Step i. to form semiconducting polymer dots (pdots); iii. irradiating the formed pdots with electromagnetic radiation capable of exciting the pdots to emit electromagnetic radiation by fluorescence and/or phosphorescence, and iv. observing the electromagnetic radiation emitted in response to the exciting irradiation of step iii.

Abstract: Compositions corresponding to marine diesel fuels, fuel oils, jet fuels, and/or blending components thereof are provided that include at least a portion of a natural gas condensate fraction. Natural gas condensate fractions derived from a natural gas condensate with sufficiently low API gravity can provide a source of low sulfur, low pour point blend stock for formation of marine diesel and/or fuel oil fractions. Natural gas condensate fractions can provide these advantages and/or other advantages without requiring prior hydroprocessing and/or cracking.
