Abstract:
A water filter includes a filter unit having a body portion adapted to be rotatingly received into a filter head assembly. An engagement protrusion extends from the body portion and is adapted for reception in a complementary receiver in the filter head assembly. An electronic device is disposed on the filter unit having a memory storage unit. A laterally extending key member is disposed on the body portion between the first engagement surface and the second engagement surface. The laterally extending key member is adapted to reposition an interference member from an interference position, whereby the body portion can be fully inserted into the filter head assembly to a non-interference position, whereby the body portion can be fully inserted into the filter head assembly.
Abstract:
A filter element is disclosed having at least one mat-type or sheet-type filter web (3), which forms by its outside (5) at least in part a filter jacket (7) that is closed on the peripheral side, wherein along the outside (5) of the filter jacket (7) a surface configuration or modification takes place in such a manner that structures (11) that are delimited from the remaining surface (9) of the filter web (3), are joined to the filter jacket (7) and are of presentable contour and/or thickness are created, wherein the structures (11) are generated by spray-fibre application and shaping, in such a manner that in time sequence, first the structures (11) and then the filter jacket (7), or in reverse order in time sequence, first the filter jacket (7) and then the structures (11), or that simultaneously both the filter jacket (7) and the structures (11) are formed in negative or positive shape on the filter jacket (7). In addition, the production of the filter element and also a shaping device used in this production process are disclosed.
Abstract:
A filtering element for filtering devices, comprising a filtering material (5) which defines a filtering space and is intended for the filtration of fluids, and at least one water indicator (13, 19, 23) which is provided at a location coming into contact with fluid during the filtration mode and indicates the presence of water in the fluid in a visually recognizable manner, is characterized in that the at least one water indicator (13, 19, 23) is provided on an end cap (7, 9) for mounting at one end of the filtering material (5), and/or is at least partially part of the end cap (7, 9), and/or is provided on a fluid-permeable supporting structure (21) surrounding the filtering material (5), and/or is at least partially part of the supporting structure (21).
Abstract:
A fluid filter assembly having a filter cartridge and housing interface to indicate whether a replacement filter cartridge is proper and desirable for the fluid filter assembly. A substantially cylindrical interface is connected to and extends from the filter cartridge and is matingly received by a bore provided in a boss of a housing of the fluid filter assembly. A means for indicating at least one characteristic of the filter cartridge is provided to ensure the replacement filter cartridge is proper and desirable for the fluid filter assembly.
Abstract:
A filter element has a reinforcement band or ring along at least a portion of the perimeter thereof and performing a support function thereat preventing or minimizing damage upon attempted percussive cleaning of the filter element by service personnel striking the perimeter against an impact surface. Alternatively, a failure band or ring is provided along at least a portion of the perimeter and performs a designated failure function to a failure condition thereat upon attempted percussive cleaning, with the failure condition providing at least one of: a) an indication to service personnel that the filter element has been damaged and should not be re-installed; and b) a deformed condition preventing re-installation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a filter element for filtering fluids, comprising a flat support structure which forms the wall of a support tube (1) which surrounds the exterior of a filter medium and forms a through-flow surface and a marking surface (9), the through-flow surface having through-flow apertures (5) forming a perforation pattern (3) and the marking surface (9) having visibly discernible marking elements (11). The filter element is characterized in that the marking elements (11) are formed in the marking surface (9) by a second perforation pattern (13) which contrasts with the perforation pattern (3) of the through-flow surface in a visibly discernible manner.

Abstract:
A filter element attachment is provided and is attachable to a filter element. The filter element attachment includes a housing for receiving at least a part of the filter element; at least one display configured to display information associated with the filter element. The filter element attachment may be associated with a corresponding filter cartridge and a filter system.
Abstract:
A water dispensing system for a refrigerator comprising a refrigeration compartment includes a manifold assembly, a monitoring device coupled to the manifold assembly and including at least one sensor, and a filter assembly including a filter housing removably mounted to the manifold assembly. The filter assembly is configured to be compatible with a plurality of suitable filter media. At least two indicators are in signal communication with the at least one sensor when the filter housing is mounted onto the manifold assembly. A controller is operatively coupled to the monitoring device. The controller is configured to identify the filter assembly and the filter medium based on a signal received from the at least one sensor and operate the water dispensing system based on the identification of the filter assembly and the filter medium.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method for transmitting information between a device within a housing to a second device, preferably a test or monitoring unit, outside of the housing. There are numerous issues associated with transferring information from within a sealed housing to an external device. In some cases, the use of wires inside the housing may be impractical, due to internal conditions, such as fluid flow, pressure or temperature. In one embodiment, the antenna of the external RF reading device is electrically connected to the dome of the housing. In another embodiment, the device within the housing is electrically connected to a housing component. In another embodiment, the gasket is used to pass information from within the housing to an external device.
