Abstract:
There is provided a sliding member that has sufficient wear resistance and good adhesion to a base formed of a sintered body. The sliding member includes a surface layer formed of a crosslinked fluoropolymer and a base that adheres closely to the surface layer. The base is a sintered body having a full density ratio in the range of 0.75 to 0.96 and is formed of a material having higher thermal conductivity than a fluoropolymer. The surface layer has a thickness in the range of 1 to 300 μm.
Abstract:
Self-lubricated bearings contain a substratum and a self-lubricating surface coating composition disposed thereon, wherein the self-lubricating surface coating composition further contains at least one cured thermosetting acrylate and at least one phenolic resin. The phenolic resin preferably contains a mixture of phenolic resin and polyvinyl formal resin. A self-lubricating surface coating composition is also provided, as well as several methods of making the bearings. The self-lubricated bearings of the present invention have surprisingly long service lives.
Abstract:
A bearing is for a tong including a housing and an engagement assembly. The bearing has a monolithic upper bearing element having a substantially planar upper surface and a monolithic lower bearing element having a substantially planar lower surface. The upper and lower bearing elements are configured to mount inside the housing with a substantially same outer horizontal profile as the upper bearing element. The upper bearing element and the lower bearing element define a central open area. The upper bearing element and the lower bearing element have an inner section defining a radial recess opening to the central opening and for receiving the engagement assembly. The upper bearing element and the lower bearing element have outer sections that form a bearing portion radially intermediate the engagement assembly.
Abstract:
There is provided an ultraviolet curable resin composition for a self-lubricating liner. The composition includes a first (meth)acrylate compound having an isocyanuric acid ring represented by the following formula (1); a second (meth)acrylate compound different from the first (meth)acrylate compound; a first polytetrafluoroethylene resin with an average particle size in the range of 75 μm to 180 μm; and a second polytetrafluoroethylene resin with an average particle size in the range of 1 μm to 15 μm, wherein the total amount of the first polytetrafluoroethylene resin and the second polytetrafluoroethylene resin is in the range of 30% by weight to 50% by weight with respect to the entire amount of the ultraviolet curable resin composition; and the second polytetrafluoroethylene resin is contained in an amount of 20% by weight to 75% by weight with respect to the total amount of the first and second polytetrafluoroethylene resins.

The upper and lower bearing elements are configured to mount inside the housing with a substantially same outer horizontal profile as the upper bearing element. The upper bearing element and the lower bearing element define a central open area. The upper bearing element and the lower bearing element have an inner section define a radial recess opening to the central opening and for receiving the engagement assembly. The upper bearing element and the lower bearing element have outer sections that form a bearing portion radially intermediate the engagement assembly.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a bearing features an elastomeric portion having an opening therethrough, a member disposed within the opening of the elastomeric portion, and a separation feature disposed between the member and the elastomeric portion. The member comprises a conical body portion arranged such that an interior diameter of the conical body portion is smaller than an exterior diameter of the conical body portion. The separation feature prevents contact between the member and the elastomeric portion.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to bearing and seal assemblies comprising a composite structure which includes a substrate and a layer disposed on the substrate. The layer disposed on the substrate includes a polyimide matrix and a filler dispersed within the polyimide matrix. The filler can be a thermoplastic polymer, such as PTFE, and/or an organic filler. The bearing assembly can exhibit a synergistic improvement in wear resistance and coefficient of friction.
Abstract:
