Abstract: Coatings for reducing or preventing fouling of surfaces are provided. In some embodiments, the coating comprises a silane compound, a siloxane compound, a phosphonate compound, a silicone polymer such as PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane), or a combination of silane-siloxane-phosphonate-PDMS in various molecular configurations in single monolayer and overlay assemblies. Also provided are related methods for forming the coating as well as coated substrates such as heat exchangers. Embodiments of the coatings are highly hydrophobic with high contact angles and the coated substrates may be used in a variety of industrial applications that require handling of oil-in-water emulsions, process water and produced water from various process operations, including Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) operations.

Abstract: Coating compositions for coating an oilfield operational component, and related methods, may include in some aspects a coating composition having a trifunctional silane, a silanol, and a filler. The coating composition may be applied to a surface of the oilfield operational component that is configured to be exposed to a fluid. The coating composition may be applied to at least partially cover or coat the surface. The coating composition may be configured to chemically bond with a cured primer composition that includes an epoxy.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and compositions for the liquid-phase deposition (LPD) of thin films. The thin films can be coated onto the surface of porous components of electrochemical devices, such as battery electrodes. Embodiments of the present disclosure achieve a faster, safer, and more cost-effective means for forming uniform, conformal layers on non-planar microstructures than known methods. In one aspect, the methods and systems involve exposing the component to be coated to different liquid reagents in sequential processing steps, with optional intervening rinsing and drying steps. Processing may occur in a single reaction chamber or multiple reaction chambers.

Abstract: The invention is related to contact lenses that not only comprise the much desired water gradient structural configurations, but also have a minimized uptakes of polycationic antimicrobials and a long-lasting surface hydrophilicity and wettability even after going through a 30-days lens care regime. Because of the water gradient structural configuration and a relatively-thick, extremely-soft and water-rich hydrogel surface layer, a contact lens of the invention can provide superior wearing comfort. Further, a contact lens of the invention is compatible with multipurpose lens care solutions present in the market and can endure the harsh lens care handling conditions (e.g., digital rubbings, accidental inversion of contact lenses, etc.) encountered in a daily lens care regime. As such, they are suitable to be used as weekly- or monthly-disposable water gradient contact lenses.

Abstract: Coating compositions are provided that eject droplets of condensed fluid from a surface. The coatings include a nanostructured coating layer and in some embodiments, also include a hydrophobic layer deposited thereon. The coating materials eject droplets from the surface in the presence of non-condensing gases such as air and may be deployed under conditions of supersaturation of the condensed fluid to be ejected. A heat exchanger design utilizing the coating is described herein.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a product for preventing the deterioration of an adhesive layer and a method for manufacturing the product. The product comprises a first product housing, a second product housing, an adhesive layer, and a protective layer. The second product housing is opposite to the first product housing. A gap exists between the second product housing and the first product housing. The adhesive layer is disposed in the gap between the first product housing and the second product housing, adhering to the first product housing and the second product housing. The protective layer is disposed on the adhesive layer. The protective layer is disposed in the gap, covering the outer surface of the adhesive layer. The protective layer bonds and cross-links to the adhesive layer chemically.

Abstract: An embodiment of a method includes depositing a quantity of first intermediary material onto an electrically insulating substrate in a pattern corresponding to a desired pattern of a first conductive structure. The first intermediary material is adhered to the substrate to form a first intermediate layer to maintain the desired pattern of the first conductive structure. A quantity of a precursor of electrically conductive material is deposited generally along the pattern of the first intermediate layer. Energy is applied to enable migration and consolidation of the first electrically conductive material along the pattern of the first intermediate layer, forming a functional, electrically conductive top layer. At least one of the first electrically conductive material and its precursor has a wetting angle of less than 90° relative to the first intermediate layer, and a wetting angle greater than 90° relative to the substrate. At least one of the depositing steps is an additive deposition step.

Abstract: Provided is a coating material composition that enables an efficient repair operation of a coating film after coating, a (meth)acrylic copolymer that is suitable for obtaining the coating material composition, and a coated article and a method for forming a multilayer coating film using the coating material composition. The (meth)acrylic copolymer includes: a constituent unit derived from a macromonomer (a); and a constituent unit derived from a vinyl monomer (b), a hydroxyl value of the (meth)acrylic copolymer is equal to or greater than 120 mgKOH/g and equal to or less than 260 mgKOH/g, and the content of a constituent unit that has a primary hydroxyl group of the (meth)acrylic copolymer is equal to or less than 30 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the constituent unit derived from the macromonomer (a) and the constituent unit derived from the vinyl monomer (b).
