Abstract:
Methods, systems, and configured storage media are provided for flexible data mirroring. In particular, the invention provides many-to-one data mirroring, including mirroring from local servers running the same or different operating systems and/or file systems at two or more geographically dispersed locations. The invention also provides one-to-many data mirroring, mirroring with or without a dedicated private telecommunications link, and mirroring with or without a dedicated server or another server at the destination(s) to assist the remote mirroring unit(s). In addition, the invention provides flexibility by permitting the use of various combinations of one or more external storage units and/or RAID units to hold mirrored data. Spoofing, SCSI and other bus emulations, and further tools and techniques are used in various embodiments of the invention.
Abstract:
A restoration detecting method includes receiving, by a processor, from a monitoring target virtual machine, file size information indicating a file size of a specific file, the file size of which cumulatively increases as the virtual machine runs, and detecting, by a processor, restoration of the virtual machine on a basis of the received file size information.
Abstract:
A method for indexing a user interface test recording includes capturing, during a session, a recording of a plurality of interactions with the user interface, capturing, during the session, an event stream including a plurality of user interface events, synchronizing, in time, the plurality of interactions and the plurality of user interface events, identifying a point of interest in the event stream, wherein the point of interest is correlated to a time in the recording by the synchronization, and annotating the recording at a time correlated to when the point of interest occurred.
Abstract:
Methods for dynamically instrumenting a program while the program is executing are described. In some embodiments, profiling hooks may be selectively inserted into and removed from a program while the program is running. The hooks may gather profiling information, such as the frequency and duration of function calls, for a selected set of functions. The hooks may be inserted into the program without requiring a special build or modifications to the binary by modifying machine-level instructions for the program stored in system memory. The ability to selectively insert instrumentation into the machine-level instructions stored in the system memory allows a set of functions to be selected during execution of the program and hooks for each function of the set of functions to be dynamically inserted or removed during execution of the program to precisely capture profiling information for the set of functions.
Abstract:
Visualizing conditions of information technology environment includes creating a visual with an initial unit set and an interactive section, each unit in the initial unit set depicting at least two types of information about at least one current condition in the information technology environment and changing the visual in response to commands from the interactive section to reveal data about the information technology environment.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for file replication using file content location identifiers. An example method may comprise: receiving an identifier of a data structure associated with a file residing on a first file server, the data structure referencing a physical location of the contents of the file; identifying a file system operation to be performed with respect to a replica of the file residing on a second file server; and performing the file system operation by accessing the replica of the file using a file name alias comprising the identifier of the data structure.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for restoring a database in an information management system that does not include a secondary copy of the database, are disclosed. The systems and methods may include using metadata stored in non-production storage devices to restore the database. In some implementations the methods are used to consolidate multiple information management systems. In other implementations, the systems and methods are used for reviewing content of archived storage media. Other implementations are disclosed.
Abstract:
The processing application includes numerous jobs for performing processing operations on computing objects. Whereas previous systems log job information on a per job basis, the apparatus and method includes generating application messages. These application messages are generated based on events in the operation of the application and the messages include predefined event information. The application messages are processing and filtered by a central logging device, which may be in response to customization properties. From this central logging device the filtered messages are centrally stored in an application log database, thereby providing a central depository and formatting of previously incongruent job-specific logging data.
Abstract:
A method for the coexistence of software having different safety levels in a multicore processor which has at least two processor cores (2, 3). A memory range (4, 5) is associated with each processor core (2, 3) and a plurality of software (SW1, SW2) is processed on one of the processor cores (2, 3) having a predefined safety level. The plurality of software (SW1, SW2) is processed having a predefined safety level only on the processor core (2, 3) with which the same safety level is associated, in which during the processing of the plurality of software (SW1, SW2), the processor core (2, 3) accesses only the protected memory range (4, 5) which is permanently associated with this processor core (2, 3).
Abstract:
Techniques of debugging a computing system are described herein. The techniques may include generating debug data at agents in the computing system. The techniques may include recording the debug data at a storage element, wherein the storage element is disposed in a non-core portion of the circuit interconnect accessible to the agents.
